Bandtail Pigeons are still here.
DAILY PICS VOL. 23
Wow, what a flurry of posts all at once! LOL!
Nice E Grosbeak tigerlily, reminds me a bit of our Chaffinch.
Janet, the pheasants do have lovely feathers, I have had some different coloured ones through the garden. I got some pics through the kitchen window of one which shone golden, it didn't quite come out in the pics though and it was running so the shots weren't the best.
Wow this is a flurry of posts!
Thanks Everyone!
Tiger- love the grosbeak!
Wallaby-lol, the running!
tigerlily, your butterfly is probably a western version of the Great Spangled Fritillary, Speyeria cybele subspecies leto. They're a lot darker than most.
Didn't adelbertcat post a Dipper a couple weeks ago? I remember because I've never seen one.
There's a picture of one of those fritillaries in Bug Files, I'm kind of surprised:

Thanks Janet. I tried that, but I'm on dial up, and the speed is very slow today.
Thanks all for sharing your wonderful bird photos! It's especially nice to see ones of birds we don't have here.
Thanks so much claypa! I'm in Douglas county, the one just above where that was taken! Guess I'd better report the sighting to the local Ranger Station, as I do the birds.
This is the first house finch I have ever seen here in Florida. Hopefully there are others and this one is not alone.
That is funny!! Thanks for posting it bigcityal!
Wow! What great pics tonight from all of you!!
Wallaby - yes, DH is British - Yorkshire born. We share labors - I am good at spotting, he is much better at description, then I do the looking up.
Kathleen
Sorry adel, my memory is not what it used to be. :-) Pelle
I suffer from a very acute case of C.R.S.
All these photos are great! The Pileated looks fabulous regardless of the photo quality. I am fascinated with those birds!
I love quail - haven't seen one in so long - thanks for the pic
wow what beautiful birds
Look at the feet on that bird sitting by the canal, they're huge. It's an Anhinga or 'snakebird'. They really do look like snakes when they're in the water.
I wasn't sure if it was an Anhinga or not. The only ones I have seen have been mostly black with some white on their wings.
LOL, thats the first thing I noticed were his big feet!
Nice pics guys!
Hi guys, very nice pics!
The next Daily Pics thread will be started by kennedy; he may not be around today so if you feel this threads getting a little long to load for you, as always please feel free to make your own posts.
Thanks, Pelle :-)
I wasn't sure if it was an Anhinga or not. The only ones I have seen have been mostly black with some white on their wings.
The buff breast means it is a female or immature; black breast is adult male.

PS starting Daily Pics #24 in a mo.
Ooops! Cross-posted there, I'll leave it for Kennedy to start the new one
Okay, Resin!
Want to start the one after kennedy?
adelbertcat - your little finches got lost in all the excitement over the fabulous water birds. So cute!!! Great shots everybody!
