I have been invited to begin a new thread with some of my pics, I hope you all enjoy them as I have yours!
This Robin was walking around underneath my feet as I stood amongst the shrubbery trying to get an angle to take pics of Hoverflies. It seemed unaware of my presence, I had difficulty getting it in the frame as it was too close!
We came from here,

DAILY PICS VOL. 23
Gorgeous Pics Janet!!!!
Thanks so much for starting the new thread! Pelle
Your Robin has a much softer look than ours; so pretty!!!
I think Resin will come along and tell us they are different species! Yours has a mouthful too Murmur! Great shot!
I think mine could be a young bird, the older one's don't seem to have as much blue and I don't remember seeing such a white rump underneath. But then I have never been so close!
My neighbour has been cleaning up his garden a lot, a couple of days later one was poking around as he dug, it sat on his knee!
I don't think they are.
Heres a page on your Robin Janet

Heres info on the American Robin
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/American_Robin.html
Yours is Turdus migratorius and ours is Erithacus rubecula.
It seems when people went to the 'new worlds' they named birds with similar colouring the same. The Australian Magpie is very different to the Magpie here too, it's more of a black and white crow. It does have a beautiful yodel though!
A Robin sat on a mans knee?
Yes! I think the young ones grew up with him digging around and waiting for food, so they aren't frightened. Probably think he's a substitute father! They do come close when I'm digging in the garden.
Oh how cool!
those are beautiful photos wallaby! breath taking actually! Our blue bird looks a little more like your robin than our robin does. But yours has that adorable rounded head on not much of a neck kind of like our chickadee in form. I guess when you are home sick (like the pilgrims must have been) you see reminders of home wherever you look.
What a beautiful bird! Thanks for sharing. :-)
I, too, must say thanks for the treat. This is the first time I've posted anything (I'm a newbe). Having put up my first blue bird box this year, I'm just discovering how wonderful this all is. Thank you so much!
Ahhhhhhh . . . another addict in our midst (welcome, planthappiness - love your name!).
Welcome planthappiness! Pelle
Thank you all, happy to share! I was really just very lucky, I was stood there nearly falling over with disbelief!
Glad I brought you some memories lilyfan, I know the feeling....
So pleased to see a 'newbie' post here planthappiness! Please keep posting, I'm sure you will be very welcome, we will be awaiting your pics with baited breath.....
Just for fun, (the mention of a rounded head!) this pic I thought a good laugh. I must have pressed the shutter as it moved it's head! It gives an idea of how much moves on that "not much of a neck".
wallaby 1 your pics are beautiful! :) And Murmurs also! :)
Thank you Grandmaggie, I am lucky to have been bought a new Nikon D40X DSLR camera by my son, I am having a lot of fun with it!
Robins in coats of many colors. Who knew!
Thanks for the welcome Wallaby,Pelle, and Murmur. I feel at home already. Murmur, you got the addict part soo right. I probably need some serious counseling, but then again - life is more fun when you're crazy. I'm so over the edge, I work here at my full time job 8 hrs. then go to Lowes & take care of the flowers. Many of them come home with me.
The only pictures I have is of my first blue bird box results - eggs & newborns. There were two hatchings - the first was 5, the second 3 baby blues.
Wallaby, I had to show your bird to my friend at work. She didn't believe me when I discribed your Robin but did when I showed her & thought it "very beautiful".
Wow planthappiness, we really WANT to see your first bluebird results! Please!!!!
I'm glad my pics have made somebody's day more enjoyable!
Adel that does look like a Lewis's Woodpecker.
Adel that does look like a Lewis's Woodpecker
Yep, agree!
Resin
Hi cyndie! Thats a nice pic; must have been quite a site!! Thanls so much for posting the shot!
Good for you debilu! Thanks for posting! Pelle
adel, I envy you that Lewis's see. It hasn't made it to my life list yet.
I did see my first Red-naped Sapsucker a couple days ago, though. Sorry the image is so bright w/ backlighting. It was the only angle I could get due to the blackberry vines. I'm clearing them, and that's why I was there to see this guy.
Edited to correct the ID. Red-breasted, rather than Red-naped. Sorry I goofed. Can't believe Resin didn't catch it! ;-)

Nice guys! So good to see some different woodpeckers.
Tiger........ those red naped are different aren't they.
They are. When it first flew in I thought it was a Red-breasted I'd raised the camera to a number of times and it always flew off. All I could see was silouette because of the backlighting. When I lightened the pix on the moniter I was very surprised and pleased!
I didn't get good images, but I had a pileated here too.
Here's a site where you can print out a checklist of birds in your county and state.

Nice pics of the wee Robin Janet!!
My other friends from UK have also said how friendly they are. Comfortable enough to sit on the counter in the house whist he makes himself tea. I sure love seeing your pictures of these little guys!
Welcome in here neighbor planthappiness just north of me! Nice to see you! This is a very special place. Best people anywhere!
debilu, The Wild Turkey is very cool, love the owl too!
I agree pelle, seeing different Woodpeckers is great, not many of them came through here this year so far, (While I was looking, anyway..). Nice ones tiger and Adel!
Still covered in butterflies here folks~

I had a couple Brown Thrasher visitors today.. all over the yard. One of them was helping me out with clearing some of the webworms. TYVM! Birdie!! Not the best pics, but you all get the gist.
Thrashers are hard to photograph. Even when they are standing still they are still twitching. They sure can make the leaves fly.
Yeah Frank they sure can! They twitch more like a wren, lol. (In a big bird suit.)
I have been missing my Robins, and here these Thrashers come to pull up the slack with extra larvae crawling around here. The Robins have headed for the woods already.
