OK, Gail told me to offer these for trade *lol*
I have a nicely rooted baby plant of Lipstick "Rasta" (Snowrose, this ISN'T the plant from you *lol*, it's another one received in trade and I just don't need 2 of them) and could send MANY long un-rooted cuttings (these root REALLY easy...believe me, if I can root them anyone can *lol*) of Black Pagoda Lipstick plant.
I also have 3 spotted Squill bulbs with babies and also have some wagonwheel Oxalis (Oxalis lasiandra) bulbs.
I'm just trying streps for the first time and find that I am very drawn to the "fantasy" line such as Party Girl, Party Boy, Surprise Party, July 4th, or any with streaks in them. Leaves would be fine as I want to try my hand at propagating by leaf this winter.
Please D-Mail me if you are interested in any of the above and thank you very much :)
Kim
Have For Trade
Kim, you are soooooooo funny................just trying to teach her to quit sending all her plants for postage to people and start learning to trade...............gail carries no weight on this forum...........I am a beginner, too....................(LOL)
Brenda...what's that one called?????
she told us on the bingo thread.............i think.............but I have forgotten.........
Space Dust is a beauty!!
Happy to report that the Squill has been adopted.
I do still have the Lipstick "Rasta" (small rooted plant), Black Pagoda Lipstick (cuttings) and Wagonwheel Oxalis bulbs if anyone is interested :)
Keep looking around for other things to offer but having a hard time parting with some *lol*
Kim
Kim................I see you made a trade.................be sure and let us know what you got...............gotta get a camera...............
Kim,
I have to learn this also :-) I am trying to get the hang of this..LOL
Susan
I already know that Susan has given me everything in her house ...........not kidding..........it your turn to receive Susan (LOL)
Ardesia did the same thing..............think I am going to surprise you with the same plant......saw some today and thought I would die..........
Gail,
I hate to say this but, I still have to bring in the outside plants and I may have missed a few..LOLOLOL
How are the cuttings coming Gail I sent? Did you get the little ones to root? Like the string of heart? I have a hard time with that one.. Hey I have a hard time with any of them LOLOL
Who is Ardesia if you don't mind me asking?
Susan
she is a DG member who really wanted a Jatropha 'Baby Pink'.............I sent her a big piece but I don't think she is going to make it........they are very difficult to root...............so, if she doesn't get it to root, i will send her a rooted one from the nursery in the spring...........
In the meantime, she and you are giving me the finest collection of plumerias I have ever seen...........and you sent me begonias and she sent a double bloomed Rose of Sharon............I never intended for you all to send so much................
Brenda..........she is a like a little baby rose........she is hard to divide......always has multiple crowns.......don't know the answer to dividing her yet..........I keep growing leaves though.......
Kim: Oh, that Spotted Squill sounds so interesting! I have a plant called Silver Squill, I wonder if it's the same kind of plant?
Oh Man Gail ... That Jatropha is sooo pretty! Does it have thorns?
not a thorn on it..................it is real hard to propagate..........I keep thinking that I will get over to the two nurseries here that propagate them and get them now before winter.......they are quite pricy but worth the joy.............maybe I can find some small ones this week.............they get so big, Lin..............I will take a picture of mine tomorrow........remembering that I literally cut a big double or triple branch for Ardesia.........but she is having trouble keeping it alive to root.................
Are yours in the ground Gail? I saw where they can get 8-10 feet tall.
I just never have gotten around to landscaping Lin................waiting for the beds to be raised, etc...........so keep collecting plants in big big pots....................
Gail, I do have a camera you silly goose *lol* but because we have 3 computers, all my pictures are on 1 computer and if that computer isn't on I can't access my pictures in the livingroom So today I am not getting dressed as it's raining outside and hubby is gone until tomorrow so it's PLAY DAY for me :)
Here is a picture of the "Rasta" that's up for trade. I plan to mail it in the pot so that it doesn't go into shock:
Somebody take Kim up on her Aeschy offer!!! I have both of those or I would have gone through the computer lines to snatch them from her! Once you have a start of 'Black Pagoda' you'll never be without it because it is a huge weed! I've cut mine back over a dozen times and it is bigger than ever! Rasta is fabulous, too. Mine's finally blooming and it's really spectacular!
They're just beautiful, Kim! I'm glad you've been bitten by the Gessie bug! I think it will really bring you a lot of joy! :o) You and I mentioned a trade once... I'll have to go see what you had and see what I can tempt you with... ;o)
That squill is beautiful! Is it hard to grow? It reminds me of the jewel orchids. :o)
Kim..............you have dmail
This is my Grandmother's (from her mother) Easter Cactus in bloom this morning. The first time she was all budded up this summer and ready to bloom, a big wind knocked the whole pot off the table outside and broke her all to pieces and threw her out of the pot. I literally cried my eyes out. My heart hurt SO bad because it was the first time in 3 years that it was going to bloom and I was so proud of myself. I told hubby "I can't deal with this today, I'll take care of it tomorrow". I literally cried most of the day that day. The next day I got myself together and went out and picked her all up. There was a bunch of broken stems laying on the ground so I got another pot and put the stems in the pot. I decided that mother nature was telling me it was time to propagate her. So I'm very excited and feel very blessed that she is blooming for me right now :)
She's beautiful, Kim! :o)
KIm.....................what is this about you not being able to grow............you are rocking and rolling with those plants..............love that cactus...............so big and full!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh Kim ..... what could I trade you something for some of that Oxalis??? I love it! The one you have called Spotted Squill I have too .... I've had this plant for about 7 or 8 years and it has only bloomed a couple of times for me. I just went out back to look for it and it's looking pitiful ... was crammed back behind a bunch of other plants .... no light at all. I took the poor guy out and I think I will repot him today ... beautiful plant when taken care of. My plant was ID'd on here as Silver Squill: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/2117/ I searched but can't find one called Spotted Squill. It looks just like your plant. Whoever adopted it will love it.
This is what mine looked like a year ago:
That Squill is fabulous!! Somebody propagate a little piece of that for me, please! :o)
Oh..........good.............Lin, I have that rasta from you and I am trading with Kim to get hers and put all of it in a basket............it will be a full basket for sure.................very excited.............
Oh Gail, thank you so much. There really are certain plants (you know, the ones I REALLY want to grow) that I just can't seem to keep. I have killed more Hoya Bella's than I care to admit, I have killed 2 Parrot Impatiens, 3 Orchids, I don't know how many AV's (shall I go on? *lol*)?
I am VERY happy to report that Rasta has now been adopted so this still leaves Black Pagoda Lipstick and Wagonwheel Oxalis.
The squill isn't hard to grow, no not at all Brenda but it's on of those plants that I fell out of "bond" with and I need the space that it's in and have become obsessed lately with thinking I need to try streps that it's one of the things I could part with and not lose sleep over *lol*
Here is my Pink Princess Philo (look closely Lin and you will see the beautiful Begonia you sent me sharing the pot with "Dianna" the Pink Princess) It is the only plant that I didn't kill in our last trade :( But being the wonderful person that you are, you sent me another yellow goldfish to try and I'm happy to report that she is LOVING her new home (picture to follow)!
I am SO happy that I found you all here. I have to say even though I don't have streps (YET) or AV's, you all have made me feel so welcome here. I WILL grow these Gessie's just so I can keep hanging with you all :)
It's all part of our evil plan, Kim! We welcome anyone who strays near so we can gain a new trading partner and have one more person to offload our extras on because we can't stop ourselves from propagating and trading! LOL
Lin showed some interest in your Wagonwheel Oxalis a few posts back up...I thought you might have missed that. ;o)
Here is my beautiful yellow goldfish from Lin :) This is round 2 and so far so good. I think she really likes her corner of the tub :) She gets nice humidity whenever there is a shower taken and bright indirect light. I plan to use another corner for streps someday :)
Lin, that is why I decided to part with the squill. It's not as lush as it was when I bought it and I can't stand the thought of killing it so it's time to go to a new home where it will be well taken care of. It's very cute but we just didn't "bond". It is the silver squill that I have, not spotted squill *lol*
HEY, I just found ANOTHER plant that I could share and send :)
It's called Rhipsalis Pilocarpa. It is a neat furry little thing. The long "arm" that reaches down into the tub could be cut and all the little arms could be removed and rooted also. These are very easy to root and are quite cute. I haven't seen it bloom as it is just over a year old but it has been a VERY easy plant to please :)
Lin, send me a D-mail my friend. You know me, I'm easy *lol*
I saw that in your other picture and liked it very much, Kim. Is it soft and fuzzy furry, or prickly you-don't-want-to-touch-it furry?
