Here is the description of Space Dust from Gary's Out of Africa.....I'm assuming this means Lyon is the one that developed the plant??

SPACE DUST---Burgundy blooms have coral fantasy streaks and specks with dark burgundy, almost black stripes extending from the throat onto the lower lobes. Two white dots dab the throat of this very unusual plant. (Lyon) $6.50 limited

VERY Nice Susan :) I bet they will love the humidity in the bathroom. That is where I put all my humidity lovers. How pretty. Don't you just love how each leaf is different? I really am not into philo's but Pink Princess won me over with her splashed leaves that's for sure :)
Great growing!

Thanks Kim,
I am off to work and will chat with you all later ... Have a wonderful day and have fun... Show pictures... I love seeing them allll..

Nan, I am with you on SpaceDust. Absolutely to die for! I like the Bristol's Party Girl and Party Boy, too. I learned yesterday that fantasy streps are ones whose blooms never are the same color twice. Is this right?

I checked out Brennan's yesterday and they do have some very nice streps. I wondered, though, if I could find the Bristol series cheaper somewhere else. Off to look at Rob's and Lyndon's!!!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

GrowHappy I have to put a plug in for Brennan's! The size of the plant you will receive makes the extra couple of dollars well worth it! Robs are so tiny, in little solo cups when they come and take a long time to grow up. They do bloom when little like that but with Brennan's you have a nice size health plant either in bloom or ready to bloom!

Let me go find a picture of the last Brennan plants I bought on the day they arrived.... you can't beat the nice size!

OH MY GOD! You get plants that size from Brennans? Now I wish I had waited.....before I ordered all those plants from Rob's yesterday. LOL I could still order 'SpaceDust' from Brennan's, though. Aren't they the home of the Shenandoah ones, too? A girl could get into some serious trouble fooling around with gessies!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Wish I had been on here yesterday and could have given you the heads up earlier!! Yes, Brennan's "line" of streps is the Shenandoah. I'm looking at a couple that they have done with the variegated foliage. I need to get on the ball if I'm going to order them before it gets too cold!

Enjoy your new babies when they arrive! Most of the time, even though they are little, the Rob's streps bloom quickly!!

~Brenda

H. bella is beautiful, Nancy! Whatever you're doing is perfect! I've really fallen for the Hoyas! Can't wait for something to bloom, but they're gorgeous even when they're not blooming. :o)

Shanika, those Streps will let you know when they want water. Drama queens, they are! All wilty and sad, and then you water them and they hop right back up! :o) I thought that one had buds coming and that you'd get more blooms soon. I'm glad you like it! :o)

Brenda, I want to come live in that little space right there by your window. I won't take up much room! LOL Those Streps are gorgeous and the views out your windows are breathtaking!

Karen, living that close to Brennan's, you need to just hand over all cash, credit cards and the checkbook to your hubby, because it's just not a good idea for you to have them now that you know... LOL It's great, really, that you're so close to them! Getting to handpick from all those beauties! If you go, take your camera, because I want pictures!

Kim, be careful with the Streps. Overwatering will kill them quicker than anything else. You must refrain!! LOL

Good to see you Amy! ~~~~~~

In regards to Brennan's, I know! I so hope I can get out there between now and November, when they close the on-site greenhouse! But I have to time it with.... PAYDAY!!!!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Well I helped finance the Brennan's greenhouse and also Lyndon Lynon's greenhouse today *lol*

Hi Karen!! ~waving~

It's good to support like-minded people, Kim! ;o) Those are supposed to be two REALLY good ones!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I hope so Amy as while I'm try leaves for the first time at least I'll have some big ones to enjoy too :)
I am SO excited about trying to make babies from leaves though. Have a few more things to pick up for the "nursery" tomorrow and then they can arrive any time :)

I've had real good luck with Strep babies, Kim. Gail sent me some leaves that I received and put down on June 1st. On July 1st a couple of them had babies just barely poking up, and on October 1st the first baby bloomed! Much faster than AVs! Which, by the way, I grow very few AVs myself, everyone knows how much trouble I have with them, and they all at least pretend to still like me, in spite of my unwillingness to get anymore AVs! ;o)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Amy, let's just say that AV's turn brown and crispy whenever I even start to walk near them in the store *lol*

The reason I'm trying streps is because I have noticed that although I can't grow AV's, I have had pretty good luck with Goldfish & Lipstick plants and after doing LOTS of reading on streps, I THINK I can, I THINK I can *lol*

So glad ot hear they grow up so quickly :) Patience....well, not really a virtue with me *lol*

I LOVE the ones I ordered from Gail and I LOVE the ones I ordered today and I LOVE the ones I get to try from leaves and not one of them are even here yet *lol* Pictures....it's all pictures still but I can't help it...I lay in bed at night thinking about them and how I'm going to do this. It's SUCH a GREAT feeling! Like Christmas!

(Zone 1)

Kim, you are so cute! I can grow AV's okay and Chirita's and Lipstick Plant and Columnea's .... and even one Petrocosmea that is growing and thriving, but have had no luck with the Strep's! I have two more that Gail sent me a few weeks ago and they are still alive .... YAY! One of them the leaves are getting brown and crispy along the edges, I sure hope it doesn't die. I am determined to figure out why these things don't like me! They are soooo Beautiful and I LOVE them ... I have been telling them that I am a really nice person and I will try to figure out what it is that is making them so unhappy in my house cause I want them to be deliriously happy and grow and bloom and thrive! :)

LOL, You are 2 cute Lin.
Browning leaves....are they getting too much sunlight? Not enough humidity? I know in Florida you have LOTS of humidity so maybe it's too humid? Maybe they will do better for you during your winter week as compared to our winter 1/2 year *lol*
I'm thinking my cool windowsill will make them happy and I'm going to try a couple in my bathroom which is where I have the yellow lipstick that glows in the dark *lol*

(Zone 1)

LOL Kim ... Yeah, I have been wondering if it's just too warm here. Although they are in the air conditioned house. I don't keep them under the grow lights but rather, on the top shelf of a plant stand in an East window. No direct sun light just bright light. I thought about misting them but I haven't done it yet. They are wicked which the first few teeny ones I had earlier in the year I did not have wicked - I think they died because I was away for a week and hubby didn't water them. So, those did dry out and were very small to begin with. I am really hoping these two I have now are going to do well.

hee hee ... love the comment about my winter week and your 1/2 year of winter!! We haven't had any real cold temp's for more than a day or two, in quite a few years! But, that's okay by me. I don't like it getting below 45 - 50 degrees!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh goodness Lin, I'm out sunbathing in my bikini at 50 degrees *lmao*
You would be surprised what misting will do for plants.
I have spray bottles on every stand and when I go by, I pick it up and give everything a mist.
Plants LOVE to be misted (other than hairy leaf plants like AV).
It really turns the foliage deep green, almost neon. Try misting and see if there is any improvement. :)

Thanks Kim ... I'm gonna do it! I have a spray bottle sitting right here full of water that I use for houseplants at times. I just need to get up and do it!
