Here is a closeup of the Rhipsalis Pilocarpa. It's little fuzzy arms are so cute :) And new growth is a pinkish color. She summered outside and really enjoyed it.

Amy, I would say soft fuzzy furry. Not prickly fuzzy. Kind of like an old mans wiska's *lol* Just had to go over and pat it *lol*

Ladies, the squill is Ledebouria Socialis if you want to know the latin. I have tons of it. : )

Kim,Your plants are gorgeous! I knew you would have no trouble finding people to take you up on your trade offer.Your pagoda is awesome.Susan51 sent me a small rooted plant earlier this year and I received cuttings from Rain.I stuck them all in a pot together outside and it really took off! You are right when you said they grow fast! I just love the foliage on pagoda even without blooms! Well I know at least one Bella you didn't kill! LOL..My very 1st hoya I ever got was that Bella I adopted from you last year. Now I am addicted to hoyas too!! I am constantly taking cuttings from it to share.Maybe if I would just leave it alone and stop cutting on it I might actually get to see it bloom!..LOL..I need to take a pic so you can see how it looks now.Sounds like you have as good of luck with orchids as me...lol..I know when I can't grow a certain plant well and orchids are one of them! My last one is off to its new home this week.

Amy if you still want a squill I can stick some in your box. I have plenty to spare : )

Lin,I never knew you had a yellow goldfish!! I might have to see what I can tempt you with to get a piece of it. I have several orange but yellow would be so neat!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Nancy,

I would LOVE to see a picture of her and am SO happy she's still alive for you :)
That is one hoya I would LOVE to grow but for some reason she doesn't love me at all *lol* That goes for Lacunosa too!
I think I just love those 2 too much (if you know what I mean) *lol*
I seem to have a real difficult time with "easy" plants for some reason. I am almost scared to try anything that says "easy to grow" *lol*
I NEED to learn to neglect my plants. They seem to thrive on neglect and neglect seems to be the one area I'm not good at *lol*
I ALWAYS think my plants NEED me and that they are always thirsty. I'm going to TRY to hard just to LEAVE THEM ALONE this year *lol*
Please post a picture of Bella, I always love to see and hear how my babies are thriving in their new homes :)

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Kim,
I can't believe your pink princess.. I have one and it is nothing as good as yours... I think I am going to put mine in the bathroom also...LOL I forgot it was a climber... To think I was going to give this plant away...LOLOLOLOL
Keep up the good work girl..GREAT!
Susan

Oh I would love a piece of the squill, Nancy! Thank you! It's a beautiful plant! :o)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Why thank you Susan. Dianna is very special to me and each leaf is different. She wasn't doing real good at one point and I decided that her pot was just too small for her. I went out and bought her the taj mahal pot and then put her outside this year in my woods under the birch trees. I get a new leaf about once every other week or so. I am finding that the new leaves being "born" inside are much nicer than those that were "born" outside so I'm thinking that next year she is a good candidate to stay right where she is. She already grows on 4 fern poles and is reaching the point where I will have to add another one. I wasn't sure how we were going to "bond" at first but over time I have really fallen for her :) Here is her newest leaf:

Here is the next leaf waiting to "expose" itself :) I just love the anticipation of what the next leaf will look like :) Of course the more pink the better *lol*

She is beautiful.. I will take a picture of mine later to show you... I am trying again to find my post with the zip loc..LOLOL Really brain dead today..
Hugs,

Amy,my pleasure..I will add it in : )

Kim,Diannas leaves are soo pretty..Ok now this is your Bella! Not the best pic I know..lol..She is a little thin right now because of all her haircuts..lol..but she is thriving!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

She has a lot of foliage and long at that!!!!!!!!!!! i can't stand it............you have to start rooting some of the foliage...........Bella is a real winner!!!!!!! (LOL)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

WOW Nancy, she looks FABULOUS! She looks VERY happy and content with you :)
I am SO happy you adopted her! She's far too pretty to die in my hands *lol*. Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing pictures of her with me. How are you growing her that makes her so happy? I tried EVERYTHING I could think of to make that one happy and nothing I seemed to do was right. You wouldn't believe how happy I am to see her today :) I feel like saying..........yep that's my girl! Looks Fantastic!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

Thanks Gail..trouble is I am constantly rooting cuttings from her.I have 5 groups of 3 starts each rooted again! If I could just learn to leave her alone she would be huge!

Thank you Kim..actually she was just hanging in the basement all winter barely hanging in there so this spring I thought what the heck.. I stuck her outside under a shade tree..lol..so I think I really need to give Mother Nature the credit for her doing so well.I hope she still does this good when its time to bring her in (very soon) for the winter.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I could NEVER even get cuttings to root. I kept 6 unrooted cuttings and just the other day decided that they were too yellow and withered and that I needed the pot. I emptied the soil and even aftre ALL THIS TIME there were NO ROOTS and they were dead! It's funny how someone can grow something that someone else can't and yet others can grow things others can't isn't it? It's fun trying though :) Maybe someday I will give Bella one last shot *lol* but after my experiences with her.........maybe not *lol*

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I have a local DGer that I am getting some cuttings of the Hoya 'Bella' from, if we can ever arrange our schedules to meet up! I fell in love with the photo she had of one of her blooms... i think it is awesome! It doesn't even look real!

Kim... do you still have the oxalis wagonwheel available, or are you all out?

Karen

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I still have her Karen :) In fact she's getting unpotted today at some point if I can ever get away from Dave's :) This is one of those days that I'm just playing around :) It's so nice as I haven't had one of those days in such a long time :)

Send me a D-Mail Karen :) I would LOVE to trade :) I should have 2 trades of 10 bulbs. 10 bulbs is plenty as they multiply nicely. I started with 10 and have well over 30 now in just over a year or so :)

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

Wow Kim, I never knew that Easter Cactus would bloom at this time of year. Your Grandmother's plant is so pretty. A nice red, too. I have an EC, but the blooms are hot pink. I know how special that plant is to you. I have a few plants from my great aunt and they are all so very special to me. I'd probably keel over if something ever happened to one of them.

Dianna is looking especially good.:) I'm glad you decided not to get rid of her. Those leaves will get bigger as time goes on. How can you resist the pink on those leaves, huh? LOL

I am enjoying my new Black Pagoda cuttings. This is one of those plants that you're happy with even if it never blooms, cuz the foliage is so pretty.

I'm now growing my first ever Streps, too, Kim. I find myself asking why I never tried to grow them sooner than this. They seem really easy. They don't like to dry out though. A lesson learned fairly quickly. LOL Amy, the NOID you sent me is blooming again. Be still my foolish heart! And, the Kohleria cutting is starting to look good again. there must be some roots in that dirt somewhere. LOL

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Shanika........Shanika.........Shanika! I am SO excited to see you here!
Everyone, Shanika gave me Dianna in trade!!! She is her original mom! I didn't know you hung out here my friend and am SO tickled to see you :)

I JUST found these ladies and I'm not leaving :) I LOVE it here. I don't have my first strep yet but I bought a couple from Gail and they will be on their way to Maine tomorrow :)

Boy I miss you :) You just found streps too? You say they are easy too :) I just LOVE to hear that. Drying out is NEVER a problem in my house *lol* Now getting waterlogged.....that's a serious problem *lol* I baby and water everything TOO much. I have to be more careful with that this winter.

I have the pink EC too Shanika but she keeps dropping leaves and doesn't look good at all. The pink seems so much fussier than the red for some reason. Yes, my EC is very special to me as Gram isn't getting any younger. I just shared a Hoya Multiflora with Gram and it's going to bloom. I go over and "dust" the leaves for her as gram likes to blow smoke around it and it's always dusty *lol* but she is so excited that it's going to bloom for her. She shows it to me every time I go over. :)

I am so happy to see you here, I think of you all the time (with every new leaf in fact *lol*!

Nottingham, MD(Zone 7a)

((((HUGS KIM)))))) :)

Yes, I'm guilty of habitually letting my plants get too dry. Especially the ones growing under lights. I'm finding out the hard way that I have to be more vigilant with water when growing this way. It's a lot of work!! Sheesh! I didn't have to water this much when the babies were out doors this summer.??? Must be that the humidity was enough for them. Anyway, I have a fan that sits about 5 feet from the stand which oscillates on low constantly. I don't want to turn it off b/c then the plants might start getting mold or some other dreadful fungus. So, in order to keep the plants healthy, I have to keep the fan on. In order to keep them alive, I'll have to get off my butt and water more. LOL

I just set up a second light stand recently. I added the lights to it yesterday. Well, two shelves have lights. The other two will get them in the coming weeks. Do you know how many gessies you can grow on a light stand? Incredible! I feel like I want to place another order with Lyndon L. or Robs for more gessies. I'm out of luck with the Episcias cuz it's too cold for them to ship now, but there are oh so many other gessies wanting to be adopted. LOL

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

kim are you looking for anything besides streps?
i would be interested in the oxalis and the hairy plant lol plmk

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Goodness, I don't have a light stand and don't see one in my future anytime soon. I sure wish I did though *lol* I do have nice big windows and lots of bright indirect light though and I'm HOPING that I don't HAVE to have grow lights in order to grow streps. It seems like most people here do have grow lights of some sort though so I don't know how well I will do with them but I sure am going to try my hardest :)

Shanika, your plants ALWAYS look so healthy and happy :) You certainly know how to grow them that's for sure :)

Hubby didn't get me anything (yet) for my birthday party on Saturday (I had a party for my son because he has to work next weekend but our real birthday is Wednesday) so I'm HOPING hubby will ask me what I want and I plan to tell him a plant stand with lights but I know his response will be...where are you going to put it? That's just it, I don't know where I would put it but I'm sure I could think of SOMEPLACE!! *lol* Maybe I could put my clothes in boxes under the bed and I could put the plant stand where my bureau is *lol*....OK....my next suggestion if he doesn't give into the lighted plant stand idea will be ......... you guessed it........more plants *lol*

I would love to see a picture of your pink EC Shanika :)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Melissa, I also love lipstick plant, goldfish plant, hoya, crown of thorns, Oxalis (I have quite a few but always love new ones) and still do grow different houseplants too. Shoot me an e-mail :) There are MANY things I'm sure I don't even know about yet :) I just found out about streps so see........there's LOTS of things I still have to learn :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Kim,, remember that the streps I am sending out have all been wrapped in spaghnum moss.............that keeps moisture in............so just look at the plant and feel the moss........you will know that the only way to kill a strep is crown rot from too much watering...............

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

((GASP!) lol....there are *fantasy* Streptocarpus??????
I had no idea....I really do learn something new every day.

Now I'll have to find room for one;)

Brenda...'space dust' is gorgeous!!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Here is another fantasy strep for you to look at Nan

This is Party Girl, purple and white with a yellow throat! Another of my very favorites.

And here is my one little Silver Squill waiting for his buddies to come from Kim and keep him company. LOL I got him in the second plant swap I participated in and was thrilled.

This is yet another plant with the thick leaves that I'm drawn to!

Kim all of my streps have been grown in a window. The streps have done great in the windows from the very beginning. This weekend I just moved all of them to the window furthest from the wood stove as I know they don't like to get too warm. So here is their spot for the coming winter.

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Brenda, that is VERY encouraging :) They look VERY happy there. I have nice bright indirect light in many places in my home but the only "direct sun" window is quite full as the Crown of Thorns and Adenium require "direct sun" so it's good to know that these thrive on windowsills with bright indirect light :) So I'm assuming semi-shade "glimpses of light" is not a good position for them? So much to learn *lol*

(Zone 1)

Oh Brenda, That is one Very Pretty Picture!

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

That one's beautiful too, Brenda...but 'Space Dust's' colors are to die for, (lol)!!

Kim...I just 'discovered' Streps about a year ago, and I wonder too how they escaped me...though I had *never* seen any available for sale around here.
I've found them very easy and very forgiving. I even gave one to my Mom (who has a few plants) recently for that reason...she needs plants that are easy to care for.

I have one of my original 3 that hasn't bloomed yet. The blooms are supposed to be red...and it's growing like MAD! I can't wait to see it's blooms.

I've got to find Space Dust, now....and room to put her!

hickory, NC(Zone 7a)

kim dmailed you

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Melissa, you had told me to hold on so I was "holding on" *lol* D-mailed you back :)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Brenda...........out of curiosity who developed these new streps..........Rob?????? from The Violet Barn???????????? they are to die for..........can't wait to start propagating them........

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Very happy to report that all the Oxalis "carrots" *lol* have been adopted along with the Rhipsalis Pilocarpa :)

Wow, felt GREAT to play plants today and get things down to a "manageable" size :)

Still have plenty of Black Pagoda Lipstick Plant cuttings and keep scouring to see what else I have that someone might want *lol* Anyone interested in Mother of Thousands? I have a pot of it that is probably not going to be taking up room for much longer *lol*

Kim

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I don't know who developed Space Dust but the fantasies Surprise Party, Party Girl and Party Boy are all Bristol's. So that means Rob at the Violet Barn or whoever he has working on it I guess. Maybe I'll go google a bit and see what I can find out about Space Dust. I know I bought it from Brennan's Orchids but the ones they hybridize themselves have Shenandoah in the name.

~Brenda

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I just found out that Brennan's is not only here in Virginia, but only an hour and a half from me.
I emailed her and found out she has nursery hours on weekends through November.

Am I in trouble or what???

Karen

(Zone 1)

Uh Oh .... Karen, I think you may be in Big Trouble! Hee Hee .... Let us know what Brennan's is like ... take a couple of pictures to post! LOL.

:)

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Oh man, I'd be in big, big trouble if I lived that close to them!!! LOL

~Brenda

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Yeah me 2 and I'm just starting out *lol* Good thing all I have around here in Maine is Lowe's and HD...(our Wal-Mart NEVER has anything so I don't even consider them anymore) and our HD is AWFUL so really it's just Lowe's *lol*
