I live in Omaha Nebraska and purchased a home. I don't know what this bush type plant is. The first year I lived in the house it flowered, but did not flower this year. When and how do you trim this plant? It seems like it's just a bunch of individual stalks bunched together. I will post more photos as well
what is this plant?
That's some type of Forsythia. If you pruned it any time other than right after it bloomed you probably cut off this season's blooms. They'll tolerate a fairly heavy pruning and still bloom the next year as long as you only prune them in the few weeks after flowering. Also, try not to over-fertilize them with too much nitrogen because it can sometimes impair flower production and it just makes them more stringy.
