Never in a zillion years did I think I would use these silly plastic terrariums so often.............I even keep begonias nice and humid in these terrariums all over the house..........they don't even need gro lights to stay beautiful.......................
October Bingo is Starting!
ok jannich's card is in,good luck!!!!!!!!!!! ready to play lol
Your right Gail, those salad bowl terrariums have come in so handy!! I'm using mine mostly for little plant nursery's but I'll put something bigger like begonia or episcia in the center that needs to stay in it and then plant the small plants around and then wait for them to outgrow the space before adding in something new.
We have a restaurant supply in Boise and I hope to find out if they carry them on my next trip down, might as well save on shipping if I can.
Here is Blue Heaven Episcia with several other things growing with it in one of mine.

I haven't been through a winter with all these plants...............have a feeling that heating system is going to do a number on some of them....................and dry them out.............we shall see.............
This is funny as we live on the coast with high high humidity..........when I told my brother i was going to buy a humidifier for this one room with a sets of stands............he looked at me with the most puzzling glance and replied, "You mean i spent 4500.00 to put a dehumidifier in our attic and you want one of those?"
I run a basic humidifier in my bedroom in the winter as the dry wood heat gets to me in the winter even though I love how it feels. The plants that spent last winter in the bedroom really liked it. I'll have to use the humidifier in the laundry room where I put the big stand during the day time and in the bedroom at night...... I think all the plants will end up being as much work as my kids were. LOL

Oh, my plants are much more time consuming that my kids........(LOL).................I just found the neatest thing.....................I was placing an order to violetshowcase and came across these propagating domes (5.95 each) with 36 places in them..................I just couldn't figure out how you could get 2/12 inch with that many and for what...........when i asked him...........he said stick your leaves in these (he sells the little solos that you can see through) for 4.50 for 100...............think how much easier these would be for our leaves.............or seeds...........or whatever.
Then I wouldn't have to use my Bio Domes for humidity..............and would have them for actual seeds for the outdoors (or hoyas, etc).........(something that grows tall from seed)...............you could even use them for wedges of other plants........streps, chiritas, etc.........they are 5.95 each with a pretty high dome .......................
Now I can use my permanest trays just for wicking with violetshowcase grids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way...............if you order 10 permanest trays from Park........they are only 49.95 (that is the 11x22)
I am so excited to give up these plastic corsage boxes I could jump for joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well Gail we are two of a kind....LOL When I went to get the seaweed fertilizer from the Violet showcase I scanned their whole catalog and I thought...... my, my that is a handy looking leaf starting set up and I ordered one. I can use the solo cups in it but I also got some of their little white pots....it's all set now...just waiting to complete a couple of trades / swaps!!
Here is a picture with a tape measure in the back ground showing you that it is not quite 5 inches tall. It is going to be very easy to use...maybe I should have ordered a second one??? LOL
~Brenda
i got a little carried away ordering from them............they are my favorite supplier of anything................
I noticed in the catalog on line or in my actual catalog............that he recommends soaking av leaves overnight in 1 tablespoon of seaweed and 5 drops of Super Thrive to a gallon of water.....................before sticking the leaves...........so many choices to make..........I have been using that hormone from Lynn at the Velvet leaf.........
I must try this method , too!!!!!!!!!!
I just sent in my bingo card. Can't wait to play!!
