October Bingo is Starting!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

At least I printed the list today (LOL)

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Today when i was planting outside, I found this little tiny leaf that had fallen off something....not sure what it fell off as I don't see anything like it that I have. Well, it had 2 little babies growing on the middle of it *lol* so I just had to "save" the poor thing. Brought it in and took one of my handy dandy fruit cups and potted the poor little thing up. Isn't it cute? I have no idea what it will be when it grows up but I couldn't leave it out there. Do you all do things like this? *lol*

Sometimes I will see a seedling outside that is growing in the wrong place and I will gently dig it up and say "oh no, you don't want to be here"...."I'm sure you will like it here much better" as I plant it in it's new home.

Somebody lock me up!

(Zone 1)

That's a cutie Miss Kim!! I can't tell what plant it is, but hopefully as it grows someone will be able to ID it!

Oh, you don't need to be locked up .... You are just a "True" gardener!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

It is the cutest little thing. I have NO idea where the leaf came from but it doesn't look like my mother of thousands which is all I can think of. It is so tiny but somehow it caught my eye and said "save me" real quietly and I said....don't you worry, you can come in with me *lol*
I'm sure it's a succulent of some type but have no clue what it will be when it gets bigger. For now it's enjoying the windowsill in my kitchen *lol* I just LOVE plants and learning about new ones. I spend hour after hour just researching and making lists that eventually get thrown away because I know I can't afford them right now *lol* but it is so much fun pretending I can :) *lol* So instead I just save things that accidently end up growing outside and bring them in like they are houseplants *lol*

(Zone 1)

Gosh Kim .... I have been like that for years too, I am always seeing a picture of a plant and googling to read about it and adding to my wish list! Then, I end up throwing away that list and always end up starting a new one! I've even made lists that end up being so long and I will go back and search for some of the plants again and mark them off the list, deciding I don't really want that one, I want this one instead. LOL. ..... and, yeah I gotta admit, I am guilty of pulling something up out of the ground and potting it up just to see what it turns out to be!

So, my friend .... you are in the right place here in this Garden! Lots of folks just like you! :)

I will be real curious to see what that little guy turns out to be. Doesn't look like the "Mother of Thousands" but it does look like some little succulent!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

I am so bad that I keep looking around my bedroom, bathroom, diningroom, and livingroom and saying....who can I cut up now to start cuttings of *lol*? If ANYONE needs cutitngs from a Black Pagoda Lipstick Plant....I'm your gal :) That thing just is crazy! Think I have killed my Cocatoo Impatiens and it's making me sick :( I just can't seem to do good with some plants. This is the second one that I kill now. This is the reason I KNOW not to try AV's. I have decided to try streps instead and just purchased 2 from Gail's sale :) Oh the fever begins *lol*

(Zone 1)

LOL, Kim. You sound just like Gessiegail ..... propagating everything in sight! I think we have a few Plant Surgeons in this Garden!

I have two large Lipstick Black Pagoda's and got cuttings from someone too (maybe you?) .... My plants haven't bloomed yet .... I really need to start feeding on a regular basis!

I've never tried that Cockatoo Impatiens but it's a neat looking plant! Now, there are a lot of plants I've never had luck with either. Streptocarpus seems to be one of them! I had four that I got in trades and they all died. Generous Gail sent me 2 recently to try again! So far, I just don't know. I am wondering if it is just too hot down here in Florida. Even though they are inside in the air conditioning I just don't know why they don't like me. I am gonna try my best on these two new ones that Gail gave me .... hopefully they will survive. I have found the Chirita's to be real easy ... much less care than AV's. And, at first I had trouble with Episcia's but then saw someone post where they were grown in glass containers with saran wrap or plastic lids and I tried that and they are doing wonderfully! I have some growing in soil and some in nothing but the long fiber spaghnum and all are in glass jars with the top covered. The ones doing the best are the ones in nothing but the moist LFS!! I haven't had any bloom yet, but I'm hoping!

Northeast, NE(Zone 5a)

OK I just sent my card in..Talk about a hard time choosing!!..LOL there are soo many pretties on that list : ) Now I am Ready for the Game to Begin!!
Thanks Brenda for hosting this months game and thanks too threegardeners for holding the cards!
Good Luck Everyone: )

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Ok...................Lin......................you have convinced me to try episicas in sp. moss in a dome..................

(Zone 1)

Tomorrow I am going to take the ones I have in soil out, rinse the roots and put them back in their glass containers with the moist spagh! I am amazed at all the new roots with the ones in straight spagh! Just have to remember to keep the saran wrap or lid on so the spaghnum doesn't dry out.

I decided to turn two of my old teapots into terrariums and set them in my kitchen with the under cabinet lights on them, so far so good!

(Zone 1)

Brenda: Those are Great Terrariums! Perfect too for the kitchen! I would love to find a clear glass teapot like that! Really good idea!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

That is what i was going to say................i have never seen a clear tea pot like that.............am going to copy you and start looking for them..................too cute of an idea!!!!!!!

Kennebunk, ME(Zone 5a)

Brenda, I'm trying to keep up with you *lol* You are EVERYWHERE *lol* I was just looking at your little Australis babies a second ago. They are SO cute and growing up so nicely. Made me go looking to see if I had Australis *lol* You do a GREAT job with your plants :)

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

What anifty idea Brenda!
Those are so cool!

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Well Kim I will take that as a big compliment being as I don't quite have a year under my belt with these various plants! Maybe they can just "feel" how badly I want them to grow and do well!! LOL

I was into hot tea from tea leaves instead of tea bags for quite awhile (I've gotten lazy again now...LOL) and so both of these pots came from sets where you steeped and then pressed the leaves through a sieve thing...now I'll have to keep my eyes peeled at any thrift stores or yard sales that I hit and see if I can find more as they would make a good gift planted up this way too.

Here's a peek inside the top one...those are two little Blue mars strep babies on the left that are enjoying growing in there with the episcias etc for now. They will out grow it fast but it's fun watching them int here for now.
