Let those cards start pouring in.........
Brenda................what in the world is the name of your posted pic????????? she is fine looking!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is Summer Carnival Gail, pinks, yellows and lavenders fading in and out of the blooms, can't beat it! I think I sent you leaves for your Sunday Morning Violets....
~Brenda
fantastic ...............getting on the floor in the morning and looking at every single solo cup...........I have already planted up some Silverglade Oyster and have some more leaves of those making babies...............have to find this one....................lucky me................
That is one Beautiful AV. At first I thought you had somehow done a collage of different flowers for one photo. Very pretty!
Thank you Bmedel for hosting Bingo for October! And Thank you Threegardeners for holding the cards this month!
I had to look up photo's of every plant on the list to make the selections for my card! I would love to own every one of them! I just sent my card to Threegardeners! Can't wait for the game to begin!
bmedel............look what I found at the crack of dawn this morning..................your Summer Carnival leaves............I like to wait until the plants are big to separate but my gro lights are too close and these are getting burned............so, today, I am moving all my leaves to higher shelves..............................
Brenda, shame on you! You stole my wishlist! LOL ;o) Those are fabulous! I'll have fun picking my 15 from all of those!
I think I have a Summer Carnival plant, if I haven't killed it. Seems like Sunny Skies is another I have that is supposed to bloom similar to it. Your Summer Carnival is beautiful!!
Edited to add:
We've got FABULOUS prizes this month, too!! Thank you to all who donated! :o)

Those leaf pots are full Gail!! They look great, can't wait for my order of Hi Fresh to come in this week so I can start using it and seeing results.
I moved a 4 ft long grow light to the top of one side of my desk yesterday! Not only will I enjoy watching some leaves send up babies the light will be great for keeping me more perky this winter!!
The pictures of everything on the list except the AV's were ones I found from the last Gesneriad Society convention that they have on their web site. The prize winners..... so they are going to be some great pictures to look at.....and they definitely made my want list expand! :0) LOL
~Brenda
well i decided to play so i sent my card in
thxs for doing this and holding cards and everyone who donated i hope i can help out next time
I already have 6 and a half cards in....keep em coming folks!!
Well, this is my first go around with Bingo and I'm VERY excited :)
I would love to be the biggest loser *lol* as I don't have any streps yet. I just did purchase my first 2 though :) and it sounds like they are something I could grow. So I'm very excited about it :)
Since this is my first time, take it easy on my ladies *lol*
Thank you everyone who donated, what a great group this is and I hope to donate something in the upcoming months. I need to finish the one I'm working on right now first but promise to "whip something up" as soon as I can :)
Thank you all for letting me play this month :)
Kim
bmedel................what a wonderful place to look.................didn't even know the Gesneriad society had that site to show............
This coming Monday night, our Corpus Christi meeting will be narrated by a "wealth of knowledge" man coming just for the meeting and he will be showing us a video of the national convention held in Denver this past summer................taking my pad and many notes..................bet i can come up with a want list in a hurry...................
The only way I kept my sanity living in the mountains of New mexico was to have gro lights all over the house.........right here in Taft, I have gro lights in the 'office' where my computer is..............it is wonderful................
3gardeners: Youhave 6 1/2 cards in already? :) Okay .... fess up, who just has half a card?
Kim: You will have so much fun playing Bingo with us! And, of course it's a lot of fun to win a prize too! I am a talker and one of the ones who does a lot of chatting on the thread during the game ... so WELCOME TO BINGO! Now you are getting hooked on the Gessie plants, you will be hooked on the game too! I love it when the host posts a photo of each plant called! It does make my wish list soooo long, though!
I guess I am like a few of you. I have one plant stand right under the window next to the computer in the study. And, when I am on my laptop in the living room I have my 10 gal aquarium/terrarium right there next to my chair and lots of house plants on the hearth of the fireplace to look at as well as a couple of others scattered about the room! It is a dreary, cloudy and rainy day here today. We have sure needed the rain we've been receiving the past week but don't need all this wind. 35-45 mph gusts. I'm afraid there's going to be much beach erosion from the wind/high tides. Saw on the news last night footage of Cocoa Beach, of turtle nests that had been destroyed and turtle eggs smashed by the waves. :( I haven't heard of any damage to nests along Daytona Beach so far. Hopefully this tropical weather will pass on through and the winds will die down.
Well, as much as I hate driving in the rain I gotta get outta here and run some errands! Hope everyone has a great day!
Lin, send me the rain...PLEASE!!!
I can't remember if i signed up to play but i wish to...........I think i did............did I????????
here is what i call (my own name) Strawberry Froth strep...............she won't quit blooming............and has been for a while...........so it will be another 6-8 weeks before she roars again..............
That's a beautiful Strep Gail......I haven't got a card from you yet......
I am Loving all of those wonderful choices for our cards! I will get my card picks in within a few days : )
oh, good.................I will send you my card...........love that list bmedel made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a beautiful Strep Gail.
I did so much research on growing, propagating and looking at different nurseries today for Streps that I literally gave myself a headache. I just want to be sure that I can give my 2 new babies what they need in order to be happy.
I noticed on one site that I looked at that they wrapped the rootball in spaghum moss, Gail is that something I should buy as I have never used it before so don't have it in my arsenal yet *lol*
I can't wait to try my first leaves :) Making babies w/the leaves looks like so much fun :)
I printed out everything I could get my hands on.
I was comparing prices etc. at different nurseries. Is there a nursery you all prefer which you get the most for your money? How about E-Bay Sellers? Is there some better than others?
I love learning about new plants and seem to have more failures than successes but I will continue to try and try again *lol*
I flat don't ever shop on ebay......................my favorite supplier are here in Texas .........and Lyndon Lyons and Rob's Violet Barn............Kartuz has good stuff , too............
I have several streps where the rootball has been wrapped in spaghum moss.......but when they started to grow and need bigger pots........i just put my mix around the moss.........but neither of yours has moss and you don't need to worry about moss..............
I think root rot is the biggest threat.............just be sure that crown is not sitting way down in the mix...................whenever I worry about root rot I use a 3 in1 one fungicide and spray both the leaves and the soil...........i will get hit for saying that as most people don't use chemicals but I am just a farm girl.................
*************edited to say that Gary M. (Out of Africa) has great steps..........he is in garden watchdog......uner the G's............

Kim: Another company you might want to try is Bluebird Greenhouse: http://www.bluebirdgreenhouse.com/
I have not bought Strep's from them but have bought Chirita's and AV's and have been very happy with the quality, health and size of their plants!
Hopefully someone will chime in who has purchased Strep's from Bluebird's, and give their input as to the size and health when they received them.
It will be a while before I can purchase any but sure do enjoy looking at all their pictures *lol* It's always good to know where to start when you are looking though :)
I agree. It's so hard to control the ole' purse strings when looking at some of the beautiful photo's! I am waiting until Spring to buy any more plants ..... at least I'm gonna try real, real hard to wait!
I'm going to try propagating some of the plants I already have so it looks like I have more *lmao* and then I will have more to share in the spring :0) I already have flats of seeds everywhere *lol* Can't imagine what I'm going to do once they need to be potted up *lol*
YOu know something, Kim................I am impressed with the way the streps look that were wrapped in sp. moss...........may start doing that all the time.............they stay mighty healthy that way.....................
OK Gail....before I make a trip to the store....is it spanish moss or spaghum moss I need? *lol*
I have 11 cards in now......
Kim: It's Long Fibre Spaghnum ..... I have orchids planted in it. I never would have thought about wrapping the roots of any other plants in it. Never heard of that done before but I think it might help hold in moisture so that they don't dry out quickly!
no you don't............i think i still have plenty..........i will do it for fun for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see the cards filing in! Another dark rainy day here in Idaho and this big grow light on my desk is going to be a live saver, I can tell already!! The last two years I've had a small OTT light on my desk but this beats that all to pieces! :0)
About 3 weeks ago I took Gail's plan for making your own grow light shelves and put one together (all by myself I must add! LOL) in my laundry room and ever since I have been drawn to that room because of the wonderful light.....
............which in turn had me coming up with this idea in my office. I share the office with my husband and he came in at the end of the day dumbfounded and said "Is no room in this house sacred?" ROTFLOL
I had to go and double check that I had ordered the "Strawberry Froth" hybrid!!! That is one gorgeous plant!
I folded up each individual bingo call yesterday and put it in a dish.....so I'm ready to start drawing names come Saturday!
~Brenda
I have more lights to add to my home made shelves but for now the window is doing the trick on the upper shelves. I'll be moving AV's in here (in place of my bowl episcia / alsobia nurseries!) before long...
I am impressed Brenda................The first ones I hired a carpenter for (LOL).............after paying that ridiculous bill, a friend and I put together the next three...............but i couldn't have done it without her help...............
Excited to start bingo even though I haven't turned in my numbers and names yet........i am repotting all streps into covering their root balls with spaghnum moss................brenda, all are done except yours..........do you want the moss........two of yours already have the moss........
Sure, I'll try out the moss. I think it will help in the dryer conditions in my house this winter because of using wood heat, I'll compare how the ones from you do with the ones I already have, it will be a good experiment for the winter.
I couldn't have done the shelves myself without all the great detailed pictures you had sent me of yours! It was awkward handling those shelves alone but DH was ill and I was determined! :0) One more person would have made it go a lot faster.....
~Brenda
Now this little greenhouse was a piece of cake to do by myself and it is now already for the hoya cuttings that I should be receiving by the end of the week plus anything else I'll want to add to it...
Very nice Brenda! That's just like the stands I bought at Wal-Mart last year to use for AV's! I sure wish I had more space for plant shelves with lights! I have two heavy cast iron plant brackets that I want hubby to hang in front of a window for me so I can put up pvc pipe or some sort of pipe for hanging plants. It will have to be strong enough to hold a few hanging baskets! I'm hoping that we have another mild winter here but we are past due for frost and freezing temp's.
I sent my Bingo card in right away and printed a copy that's sitting right here next to the computer waiting for the game to begin!
Oooh, nice little greenhouse! I saw someone post a photo of one like that a few months ago! Perfect for a little nursery! Are you going to hang grow lights in there? Hope you will post another photo when all your babies are settled in!
I have some lights on the lower shelves now but I need to get some more. The top shelf will just use the natural light from the window. This is only 36 inches wide so you can't hang the shop lights in it :( I have bought the 24 inch white light sticks at Wal Mart and hung two at different lengths and widths for each shelf in order to get enough light to cover the shelves. It looks like it will work. I'll take pictures after the hoyas are set up!
~Brenda
looks like fun to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My goodness................I am just getting back to the house and no one is even around this thread..........?????????????? what are you doing people??????? Janet??? Rain???
(still waiting for cards)
