I thought I put a plant in this spot....but now wondering if it was replaced by a large weed. Does anyone recognize this very large leafed plant ?
PLEASE ID IF THIS IS PLANT OR WEED !
It could be a hollyhock (Alcea) of some sort. They can get quite tall before they flower. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Malvaceae/Alcea_rosea.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.desert-tropicals.com/Plants/Malvaceae/Alcea_rosea.html&h=491&w=250&sz=26&hl=en&start=32&um=1&tbnid=Bcny0SJUcUmnBM:&tbnh=130&tbnw=66&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dalcea%26start%3D20%26ndsp%3D20%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3DGGLD,GGLD:2004-46,GGLD:en%26sa%3DN
You may want to post it in the Plant ID forum so you'll get more feedback.
Did you plant a Hydrangea there at any time, it looks rather like the new foliage of that, but wont know till it flowers really, good luck. WeeNel.
It isn't a Hydrangea; those have opposite foliage and this displays alternate leaves. What did you plant originally?
It looks like you are having to stake it to keep it upright; a hollyhock would most likely have a stiffer stem than that (at least to the size shown), though those leaves are in the right ballpark for that species.
Beyond that, I'm no help at all.
Thanks all for your help...yes it does have to be staked. I think it may be Malva. Will wait and see if/what blooms next season !
