HELP this WEED is Noxious !

Yonkers, NY

I have spent an entire morning clearing this noxious weed out of my raised flower bed. It is an ugly rosette and has connecting roots that were traversing the entire box.
Anyone know what it is and what to use to keep it from reappearing next Spring ? Surely I could not have removed all of the roots !~

I don't know what it is, but it looks nasty.

No Idea what it is, but feel sure someone else will help, if it is as big a problem as you say, paint the foliage with weed killer, then you will still be able to grow things, the weed killer wont spread to other plants this way, if you cant or dont like using chemical killer, then you will have to just keep digging the runners up as you see them, the roots from the picture look very invasive, weedkillers will go down to the roots and weaken the plants growing/rooting system, you may have to paint the killer a few times to get results, also breaking the leaves will help when you weed kill as this will get the stuff right into the plants roots a bit faster, the leaves look fairly soft so the killer should reach the root system easy, it will be about a week before you see the plant start to wilt though as the killer has to travel to the roots and back to the foliage again to die off. good luck, WeeNel.

You might try posting on the ID forum, someone there will know what this is for sure.
