I have spider lilly growing wild in my yard. I cut some to put in a vase in my house. I have cats. Are these poisonous to animals?
spider lilly
Lycoris bulbs are poisonous. They contain the alkaloid, lycorine, which causes vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions and sometimes death in humans and other animals.
Thank you very much for the information. I had cut some of the flowers and had them in a
vase in the house, and all three of my cats were trying to smell them and would not leave them alone, so I immediately put them out of the house. Now I am glad I did.
Thank you again so very much
You're welcome. I think the flowers are fine but better safe than sorry.
