The bulbs I purchased have two bulbs attached together. Should I be separating them before I plant them this fall?
Daffodils - should I divide bulb before planting?
I would, as long as both are healthy looking and you think both would grow :)
It depends on the type of daff's you are going to grow, some of these like to be grown in small clumps, others become crowded after about five years and need divided to prevent overcrowding in the growing position, some even like to naturalise and grow into large clumps where they look at their best, if you plant them in say clumps of 5/6 then dividing them now wont make any difference for a good few years, just dont plant them in rows like toy soldiers or they look somewhat artificial and as the foliage takes a while to die down and should not be cut off till it turns brown, the space the foliage takes up in rows make it difficult to plant anything else in the same spot, you can leave the daff's in the ground for many years, some if overcrowded after say 6 years, dont flower as well but grow lots of greenery. good luck.
