Strange dmail I just received

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I am of the opinion that the internet is one of the most wonderful gifts we have in our world today. Of course, there is evil where you look for it. I know not to visit certain areas the same as I would not go to certain parts of my city. The information highway is fantastic.
Looking for mayhem could be found in my own neighborhood. I feel most blessed to have found the Dave's neighborhood. The information for my garden and lots of other areas has enriched my life. Hopefully, those that are lurking are learning as well. Just what in the world could they find here that could hurt me? I really don't know.

All I do is pay 11.00 a month for protection of identity theft...............it is wonderful and I never have to worry...........any inquiry into my credit for any reason they send an email to me to see if it is mine....................

I didn't get the impression that anyone was doing a Subscriber vs. Member type of thing here (Us vs Them).

There are over 40 free forums here at Daves and we've had some wonderful contributions (photos and information) made by non subscribers.

It really hurts me when (in past threads) I've seen awful things said about non subscribers. I'm glad they are not able to have access to this forum just for that reason.

I can't speak for all of them (non subscribers) but I can speak for some whom I've gotten to know very well and although they may not be able to afford a subscription they greatly appreciate being able to have access to some of the forums at this wonderful site.

As far as the security thing goes I think its up to the individual whether they want to answer a D mail from an unknown person or not.
Everyone has different experiences in their life which will make them possibly more cautious than others. We certainly do not have the right to put down those people. Pelle

I do not think anyone is slamming non subscribers................we are just talking about safety in general.....................I may just be an 'odd ball' but there are few people into gardening that can't pay 2.00 a month for a lot of joy.....................I personally think they just choose not to want to pay for any site....................

I don't necessarily disagree. Less than $2/month is more than reasonable in terms of what resources are available here, and yes, people like "free" (human nature). However, some folks like to try before they buy. Some people might like to just to join first, to get a feel of the general culture, and what's available before they take the next step. I think that is perfectly reasonable. And there are a handful of folks out there that really may not be able to afford a subscription.

Also, some may initially find DG as the result of a search and may not really understand what they've happened upon at first, in terms of how "things are done". Maybe the person doesn't know that much yet about computers and/or forums, netiquette, etc.

There are all sorts of reasons, I for one have been so hard up at a time in my life I could barely afford to buy food at it's cheapest. A total of $20 is looked at as very valuable when you are in that position, and unfortunately many people are in that position.

As someone above so rightly said, Amen to this thread.

I'm glad I waited to make my reply (which I've had written out for quite some time now, lol).

Thank you Suze for at least being fair on the matter and seeing all sides. :-)

I quess I just don't understand the wrong direction in which some people take their attitude or opinions.

Thank You wallaby!

Amen!
