We just purchased a different house and there are two of this shrub in the front. I'm trying to find out what they are and how to care for them. Should they be cut back? If so, what time of year is best ? I'm not much of a gardener.

I think it is weiglia, but I'm not sure. I have a weeping one in a pot for 4 or 5 years...When I trim mine, I do it in fall when growing has slowed or stopped. I'm not totally sure tho, let someone else identify.. but this will bump it back up above the spammer that hit on this forum last night.
