name that pod

Churchville, MD

About 40 years ago, I recall a plant from my mother's garden that had small orange flowers and long, skinny seed pods that burst open and curled back when touched. These seed pods were about 2 inches long and very thin. I have spoken to a number of garden centers and no one can help me. Do you know what this plant was? It wasn't an impatiens.

Actually, it probably was an Impatiens, just not one you're familiar with ( Impatiens capensis). http://www.rivernen.ca/plant_53.htm
I've always called them touch-me-nots but they're also called jewelweed. They're a U.S. native but because of their fragile stems they're hard to find for sale at nurseries. I know of a park where they grow wild along a stream...

If that is what you want, I have a bunch growing by the barn and I'd be happy to watch for seeds.

Thank you so much for your responses! I lost my password and couldn't figure out how to get back in until now. I believe that the flower I have been searching for is the California Poppy, per the link sent to me by Kwanjin. Looks just like I remember.

I am going to get some seeds and plant them in the garden I started in memory of my mother.

Thank you again.
