Bleeding Hearts (Dicentra) and planting rhizomes?

Hi, I have three bleeding heart rhizomes and have no idea how to plant them. I'm not sure how deep or in what direction to plant them. I can really use your help in guiding me.

I've only divided mine. I would think that if you plant them about 6" deep and parallel to the surface it should be pretty natural.
