I ran a search for you in Plants scout, nobody has it!
What an impossible plant you have chosen to fall in love with!!
Ask your local nurseries if they could order it for you. They sometimes have growers that could provide such hard-to-come-by plants.
Good luck! Christie

There's one person here who lists that they have seeds available for trade, you might check with them and see if they still have some

Thank you for your searches and info. I have sent a couple of Dmails to several people but haven't had any response yet. Ecrane3, I just sent one to the link that you sent me. Hopefully I will hear something back and get some seeds.
I found a lady here south of Houston that gave me some plants yesterday, but most people say they don't transplant well. So we will see. But I would love to find the seeds!
Thanks again!

oh no! you will be sorry! I am trying to kill mine out. mexican fire weed. it was here when i moved in. it will spread like wildfire. i don't know why as it is not native here. it overwinters.

Natives generally don't spread like crazy, it's the non-native introduced plants that often become problematic.

here is a picture to confirm this is the one you want. there are different forms of it.

I googled Mexican Fireweed .... a different plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/1384/

Adrian, MO(Zone 6a)

there is another post on it. mine is the mexican fire plant. euphorbia heterophylla some have narrow straight leaves but mine have the oak leaves. i don't know what the difference is.

I guess there are a lot of plants with the same common name.

Both of these are Euphorbia's:

I wonder which one it is that I find growing in my yard every once in awhile? Next time I see it, instead of mowing it down I will have to look more closely. I tried transplanting it from one location to another a few years ago and it did not survive the transplant.

Adrian, MO(Zone 6a)

i think i got things straight. whew!lol there are 2 different plants. mine is cyathophora, and the other is heterophylla. so the cyathophora has oak leaves and the heterophylla has narrow pointy leaves. and mousy margaret is looking for cyathophora which is mine.
ok yes.
it says to allow pods to dry on plant. can i just dig up plant now and send to her?

(Zone 1)

You could try. I have heard from others that this plant does not transplant well, but I don't know if that goes for both of them.

Adrian, MO(Zone 6a)

that's funny. i at one time had everyone of them pulled up and they just keep coming back. I had read before that roundup will not kill them. they get in the soybean fields in south america and they are hard to eradicate.
I don't have as many as i did, but they are popping up again.

(Zone 1)

They have only been growing in two areas of my yard .... not many anymore and I only see them in the Spring time if I'm remembering correctly. My husband uses the string trimmer/weed wacker on them. I did mow some down in one area once or twice. I really like them ... they are a pretty plant. The next time I see them, I might try again to transplant them to a different area.

Splendora, TX(Zone 9a)

I like both of them. The one with the regular shaped leaves and the one with the oak shaped leaves. If you can find out how to get the seeds, I'd love to have some. I've seen them both listed with the same names and the names interchanged.
If you want to try mailing me some small plants, we can try that.
Let me know.
Thanks

mousy margaret i just sent you a dmail. yes i will mail you some plants and then some seeds or seed heads later on. we can try both ways. isn't that funny how one person's weed is another person's flower.lol.
The worst thing for me is i had never heard or seen them before and thought they were just some sort of potentially poisonous invasive weed. Nobody who has ever seen them knew what they were.

If you have trouble getting them started be patient. Neither plant transplants well as they form somewhat of a taproot. The only way to really get them to grow in your yard is by seed. However, they need 2 years to get a start. After you do get them going, your going to have an abundance of them, but the good news is they are easily pulled up when they pop up where they aren't wanted. I have heterophylla in my yard. I'll be happy to send you ripe seeds to scatter in your yard if you want to try that variety too. (My grandma always called them Summer Poinsettias). Right now is the best time to take the seeds from the plants. If you received any prior to this they probably will not grow. The seeds need to completely ripen on the plant. Let me know if you want some seeds.
