While I've been a gardener several years, I've not grown vegetables before this year so I feel quite a novice.
This spring I planted a few asparagus crowns and let them grow ferny instead of eating a few. Now about half have green berries that are beginning to turn orange. Are these seeds?
Need asparagus info, please
They contain the seeds.
A lot of people like to plant all-male asparagus, instead of getting the seeds.
Do you know how long from seeds to edible size spears?
three years on average
Thanks. When should they be planted, and should they be started in a seed tray? (Sorry, I should have asked that above with the time.)
Hi there :)
I was looking up info on asparagus which grows like a weed in our garden - we never get thick spears so I wanted to find out why.
Anyway, check this link out for general planting information http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/veggies/asparagus1.html
