Home Soil Test Kits

Hancock, MI

I have a home soil test kit which tests the usual Ph, N, P,K, but I am wondering if anyone in the gardening community has knowledge of a home test kit that can give clues of the nutrient content of soil. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I, too asked and have no responses.

There are some out there. You should be able to get them at your garden supplier. I just don't know any brand names.

I've never looked for anything beyond the standard N/P/K, but even if there are kits to measure other things, usually the levels of other stuff in the soil are pretty low, so I don't know how trustworthy the results would be. You'd probably get better information if you send it to a lab for testing instead, they have much more sensitive measurement techniques than anything you'd be able to buy in a kit.

every thing else would be trace minerals. most of the time don't need to add unless you live in an area that needs to add and you would surely already know that, for example a highly alkaline sometimes has iron deficiency, but it's not that iron is lacking, it's that it is "tied" up by the alkalinity of the soil. also very rare you would be deficient in a trace mineral unless you raised a particular crop that robbed the soil of that nutrient and again you will probably know that also.
