I'm new to the forum and have been looking around for quite a while, and it seems like there's a wealth of info here. I've been trying to id this plant (I don't know if it's a shrub or tree) for a while to no avail. We just moved into the house, and it came with lol. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Look into it to see if this looks like it. I could be wrong, other opinions will come.

I looked into it, and yes, you are right. That should give you an idea of how much knowledge I have in landscaping, but I'm learning. I'm going to spend the rest of my evening looking over this forum to learn as much as I can. Thanks for the super quick reply.

I was in your shoes not long ago. Thanks to Daves Garden, I have learned more than I could ever imagine. I enjoy gardening now more than ever and it isnt just a 50/50 chance whether something will survive or not. I now only kill about 10% of what I grow.
Good Luck and Welcome to Daves!!

Hi Wonko, welcome to Dave's Gardening, you sure do have a Rhododendron, these are wonderful shrubs and should flower in spring, sometime between March to May depending on the type, to have such a lovely large shrub like you have, it means that you probably have an acidic soil as these plants wont like any other kind of soil, so you would be best to do a soil test in some areas of your garden so you dont buy other plants that dont like acidic soil, you can waist a lot of money buying the wrong plants, but there are lots of plants that do like this soil, so dont be worried about that, look around your neighbourhood to see what is growing well and as you said you are new to gardening, then maybe visit your local library for some books which are for beginners, these will help you with design, different plants and their needs and also ideas about colours, shapes and general gardening tips, but feel free to ask here any questions you want, everyone seems very friendly and will help you with anything you fell stuck at. good luck and enjoy your new garden. WeeNel.
