Hi Becky. . .

No the pattern will not fade out.

I have noticed that my blooms are not consistent and some are different than others. These blooms [and your blooms] are from the seeds I purchased as Rosita, are a little different from the Yaguruma blooms I last grew. Also, I have noticed that these vines are VERY LONG. I know of one that has grown 20' and if I remember correctly when I grew my first blooms they were a much shorter vine. Maybe it has something to do with this particular strain ????

I will post some examples of some of mine that were different - from long spokes to short spokes to hardly any spokes. And the Picotee Edge will sometimes go all the way around the Bloom with either a Slender Picotee or a Thicker Picotee, and some Blooms will have more of a Margined Picotee Edge, and some will only be a slight Picotee edge with White only at the end of each spoke.

Emma - Each one has it's own 'character'...I like them alll...

Emma - Beautiful! All those photos were from the same vine? If so, that is exciting!! I'm glad that the picotee and white spokes won't disappear completely. I was worried they might. I love the white design on this cultivar! And do you know the blooms lasted all day. Didn't fade and wilt like most do! Is that typical for this cultivar?

The single Yaguruma vine I am growing is indeed one of the tallest! I will have to figure out real quick what I am going to do for it climb on because it's already just about reached the top of my 5' bamboo teepee sticks. I just learned another lesson about MGs. Some behave very well in pots w/sticks, but many would prefer a fence trellis to meander along. I am going to have to figure out how I can squeeze some pots along the back of my garden beds to place against the fence trellis. As a newbie to gardening ..... I am the "Queen of Gardening Mistakes"! And others would be hard pressed to take that title away from me. :-( I have a future garden area where I will be growing MGs, but that area is not completed yet and probably won't be until next Spring.

My goal right now is to grow, photograph, and collect seeds from all these wonderful MG cultivars you shared with me. Someday, you won't even see my white privacy fence because it will be covered in vines ..... most of which I hope will be various MGs! :-) Until then ...... I am learning .... mostly the hard way! :-/

Thanks Ron . . .

I like them all too.

Here is one that doesn't even have a spoke, but it is still pretty.

Becky . . .

I have one Yaguruma vine growing in one area, and another in a different flower bed.
The first three photos were all on the same vine. The last photo is on a different vine.

Look at my Fuji Beni mutant.

Wow, such beautiful blooms! Do they reseed? I have problems with the oldfashioned ones in my perennial beds?

Hi Teresa,

The Ipomoea nil seeds won't reseed like the Ipomoea purpurea seeds. You need to physically collect the seeds from your vines and re-plant them each year.

My experience has been that they can reseed sporadically here and there esecially if the winter was mild. I would Not depend on that though. As Emma has stated it is best to collect and save your seed to ensure a good crop for next year.

Here is a photograph of 'Scarlett O'Hara' taken today. I like it very much.

I am so happy this one is making seeds so I can keep growing it forever.

The vines are loaded with these beauties; the flowers range from all off-white to a high degree of red-speckling.

This one also displays variability in speckling, but the reverse tube seems to always present in the flowers.

I like the color combination of the bright blue and lemon-yellow leaves of this one.

Emma

It just looks so perfectly symmetrical. Amazing!

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

I strongly suspect that this one here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3939793
is carrying a flecked gene in addition to the speckled...hence the sectional contrasts in coloration...

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)
