Emma, The blue silk is gorgeous. It is nice to see more nice things posted today. Here is a row of shibori purpureas on the back of the car.

A blue peony looking nil.

This is a comparison shot of the white hige from MGJ and what lookslike sunrise Serenade. The white one has pink "eyes" and the flowers remind me of trapeze artists on the vine.

One more light pink hige growing out in the back yard on the corner of the garage roof and happy as can be. I wondered if this was Pink Flamingo?

Thanks Karen,

Love your Shibori Blooms. VERY NICE SELECTION!
All of your Higes are Great.
I have Pink Flamingo started, but started them late so no blooms yet.
The photos I have seen appear to be a Brighter Pink, so I'm wondering in this hige
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3926112
might be something different.
A more diluted color. I REALLY like it!

Agreed, It does look different from all the others being such a pale color pink. I haven`t seen one this pale before. It was a unknown gift seed from MGJ. Karen

Karen - lovely MG's. The blue nil is a marvelous color.
Emma - great shot of that critter! so cool...

Emma - I have NEVER seen a praying mantis! That's big! I heard they eat hummingbirds and butterflies! Not nice! LOL!

Karen - Your Blue Peony is lovely! As are all the others! :-)

I have a question ..... I was looking in PlantFiles at the Joyce Cobb MG. I'm a little confused. Does this MG come with that MANY different colors of blooms or are some of those mis-labeled under JC?

Here is a leaf from one of my vines that Emma thought might be Joyce Cobb. I am hoping so! Can't wait to see the blooms!

Holy cow Becky. Either you have really small hands or that's a honkin' HUGE Morning Glory leaf!

I've never seen a praying mantis either - but I thought they eat bad bugs too don't they? I also didn't realize they were quite that enormous; that would scare the heck out of me if I came across him in my garden!

Joanne

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Joanne - My hands are smaller than the average woman's hands. But the leaves are still quite large. I am curious to see how big the blooms are on that vine and the other 19 vines! Most of the leaves are LARGE on the other vines, too! They are the biggest MG leaves I have ever seen! It has to be the soil mix and fertilizer helping to grow them so large!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't know if the Praying Mantis can eat a Hummingbird, but they DO eat bugs.
ANY BUGS. . .And probably worms too.

I found him or her on some vines in my alley that we haven't done a thing to and they are loaded with aphids. I have zero aphids in my yard - only RUST :-(
But this may be a she that has either been eating very well, or maybe she is about to lay eggs. I don't know what time of year they lay eggs, but I bought cases the first of the year that came from Maryland. There are from 100 to 300 eggs or so to one case. Because of ALL of our rain, we didn't end up with but a few babies that made it to be adults.
I'm still learning about them and I WANT them in my yard.
I do have plenty to keep them well fed.

Emma

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Emma - Unfortunately, Praying Mantis do eat a lot of different creatures and Hummingbirds are sometimes on the menu. See this link:
http://www.birdwatchersdigest.com/site/backyardbirds/hummingbirds/mantis-hummer.aspx?sc=birdwireJul2005
But I do know that Praying Mantis are also good at keeping bugs that are harmful to plants out of the garden for the most part. I didn't know that you could buy PM eggs. I have been known to buy Ladybugs! Lots and lots of them! LOL!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Holy Cow, BECKY ! ! ! . . .

I can not believe that is just sick.
My guys better not mess with my hummers.

I never knew this.
You have messed up my entire weekend now *-*
just kidding.
Seriously, I don't like that they eat hummers.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Karen, beautiful blooms. Love the blue nil.

I noticed something interesting this morning. Where the unknown Feathered Pink vine is growing and blooming, I saw this bloom.

And not too far away from it are these. They look to be the same color. But I can't tell if it is the same vine as they are all mixed in with the White Hyacinth Bean vine.

And the new Plum Tie-Dye bloom! Boy! Do I love this vine!!!! You rock, Emma!

Beautiful! Plum Tye dye mg,Becky.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Beck, the Plum Tie Dye is a beauty but I love the dark red/purply bloom
below. Knocked my socks off. The next bloom is the same color so maybe on
the same vine. Have no idea which glory it might be. Just know I like it, a lot, lol

Jackie

Here's a bloom from Sunrise Mixed. This may be the same unknown bloom
Emma had on her Sunrise Mixed. Tried not to show the buggy foliage and the
pic is not the best, just trying to capture the color.

Thanks, Jackie. Unfortunately, I can't get close enough to mark the bloom for seed collecting. It's too far back in my garden bed. (I used the zoom on my camera to take the photo.)

These unknowns like yours and mine sure are pretty! :-) Love the blooming surprises!

Whoo Hoo! My babies are blooming!!!!

Here is my first bloom on the Rosita Youjiro.

Well, you can`t ever go wrong clicking on this morning glory 2007 thread. Everything is looking nice. Cocoa Chocolate is to die for and the white hige reminds me of one of those expensive little fluffy white dogs. The light lavender looks so delicate and yet has good substance.

beckygardener, That pretty flower was teasing you being so far away. You need a trained monkey to help hang your tags lol.

Happy Labor Day!!!

Momcat -
Just LOVE your White Hige. . .

Becky, Great Blooms. . .
Remember that ROSITA DOES NOT EXIST
It has been determined that this is Youjiro Yaguruma.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3931225

Your Solid Bloom on your Hige vine is nice. Hope you tagged it.

This is very pretty,
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3929154
but don't think it is the same as the Pink I got in the Sunrise Mix.
The White Throat on your bloom doesn't look like a Huge Starburst White like in the Blooms I'm getting.

Here is one of my recent Blooms

Becky, the cocoa chocolate is very pretty, love the dark color.

Momcat, very nice Hige.

Emma, thanks. I couldn't remember exactly what your Sunrise Mxd bloom looked
like. Your's does have a larger white throat area but the color is close.
Love your Split Personality, mine just makes one split.
Great pics too.

Thanks Karen.

Jackie

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Jackie. . .

I am very impressed with what my Split Personality MGs are doing this year.

Emma

Deb - Love your white Hige! Really pretty blooms!

Oh! I forgot Emma .... no Rosita. I changed the name on my computer file. I am wondering how many will be blooming tomorrow. Too bad I have to be at work at 8:00 am. When is the time change? LOL!

Emma - This one is lovely! Looks like a large bloom! What is it?
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3931480

And your Split Personality are doing great!!!! WOW! Nice show of blooms!!

Thanks, Jackie! I do like that Cocoa Chocolate, too! It's a really nice color and a rather large bloom. There is another one just above it that will probably be blooming tomorrow, Love it!!!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Becky,
Thanks . . .
Yes, My Split Personality is really a strong growing vine. Going all over the place.

Here is the information Ron gave me about my Pink from Sunrise Mix
either Akatsuki or Hama no Haru...
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=3873441

Hard to tell which it is. They both look so similar.

Karen - Lovely shot of all your blooming beauties! :-)

Emma - Here is today's photo of 2 more blooms from the Youjiro Yaguruma. Does the white pattern eventually fade out? I noticed on the 3rd bloom it is less apparent.
