Joanne my name is not on the list again. LOL!!
Jeri
Anyone interested in a Round Robbin?
Jeri, Total brain fart. I just fixed it. You ARE on the list now. Sorry for the oversite AGAIN! ha! -joanne
Thanks for such a simple and thorough explanation, Joanne :)
I just want to clarify one thing - when we receive the box, do we take the NEXT address label (sticker), instead of just choosing one randomly? I just wanted to make that clear for both me and others.
Looking forward to this!
Gabi
Gabi, Yes, take the top sticker and restick it to the box. There will also be a printed list with the order. Just send it to the person next on the list! I am trying to make it as easy as possible. This can be our 'experimental' RR, see what to do differently next time. God bless. -joanne
Way to grow, Joanne!
I am going to throw in a few extra cuts for new collectors who may not have enough to replace cuttings they take. Joanne, would you rather I label them separately or just toss them in the mix? As well, these will be free for the taking for new collectors.
I have read about Round Robins, but never had the opprotunity to participate. Cultivating friends is more important to me than cultivating plants.
I am looking forward to seeing everyones new treasures!
Mel
You guys are sooo nice!
I've been worrying that everything I have would already be in the box and since we can't duplicate I couldn't even take one...
If there are extras I might be able to get something after all!!!
Whatta buncha sweeties!!!!
This is gonna be SO much fun!!!!
Sharon, already watching for the mailman...lol...
P.S. Do you KNOW how very special you are???
XXXXOOOO
Mel,
That's very sweet of you to do for the newbies. But I think we should stick to the rule of only taking what you can put back in. I think the people who signed up did so because they have at least one hoya to "trade". Let me know if anyone disagrees with that. On the other hand, it's a great idea to put in extra cuttings if you can spare them - in case some cuttings in the box go bad. I know it was mentioned above and some already offered to do so, which is very nice.
:)
Gabi
Oh, I just read Sharon's post. I guess you posted while I was typing :)
I see what you're saying. If someone only has one hoya to cut from, you may not be able to do so if that hoya is already in the box. Hmmmm.....what do you all think? Maybe we can change the "duplicate" rule - like if someone only has a fungii to cut from, but there is already a fungii in the box, maybe they can put the duplicate in since they have no other hoya to choose from. I don't know, just a suggestion. Also, there may be 2 people who want that fungii, so that would work out just fine, lol.
Since I am easlily confused..... I would like to keep it simple. I think Mel's idea and offer is a GREAT one. Mel, I think labeling those you choose to add as 'extras' is a good idea and a thoughtful idea. That way if everyone can play no matter what. Thank you.
I do still want to keep it to "no duplicates" if that's allright will everyone.
Like I said earlier, if anyone wants to do this again, this will be a good guide line to go by. We can use what worked well and 'dis' the what didn't work out too well.
I am going to edit the above post on "rules" to add the part about 'extra cuttings'.
-joanne
I think it would be a good idea if you plan on putting extra's in for the newer collectors then you should mark 'extra' on the cutting/ID tag, so that people know that there extra for the taking and do not need to be replaced with anything. And leave the original rule as is. Otherwise you end up with alot of duplicates down the road and only a few species to choose from. I think the intent is to keep it full of a large variety. Just my thoughts.
Thanks Tami, my thoughts exactly. I edited the 'rules' posted above but you said it much better :~)
Well, I'm off to fill a box! YEA! God bless All. -joanne
Sounds good to me! Labeling them as extras is a great idea.
Gabi
I didn't play because I must of misunderstood the directions (what else is new *lol*) and the only hoyas which I grow that are big enough are considered "commons". IF you all do another one at some point, I would love to play :)
I can tell you from experience that Joanne sends BEAUTIFUL cuttings and I can't imagine any of them not being strong enough to make it place to place nor lasting long enough to *lol*.
I'm so sorry that so much fuss happened along the way but I sure hope that you all have fun and get some wonderful new babies to care after!!!
Kim
I think they'll make it if at each place they receive a little TLC...soaking or misting if they look at all droopy, and left out of the box if they stay overnight or over the weekend...
I may acquire a coupla new ones before the box arrives, so I may have more to swap out after all...
What a good group this is!!!
Sharon
I stopped by two shops today that usually have Hoyas to see if there was something new. Same as I already have. I know I will have something to trade. Can't wait for the box to arrive.
Betty
Well project Round Robbin is off and running. I took the box to the post office and it's on it's way to TamiXWP as we speak! It's a rather large box and it cost me $15 to ship. I hope everyone is ok with that. I put in a lot of rooted cuttings so if they get taken it will lighten up. Some of the plants/cuttings have more than one in a baggie. These are still concidered as ONE cutting.
I used 2 boxes taped together so if it needs to be sized down when you get ready to ship it off to the next person, please feel free to do so. Here is the order in which it is going:
TamiXWP
meltn
horsewoman
picabo
kabob
Hoya 24
Nan
markroy68
blue_eyes
bmedel
winterhaven
gabro14
JuliaSF
jeri11
epiforums
2manyplants
TamiF
epiaddict
I used no particular rhyme or reason in making this list. I accomodated for 3 people who had time restrictions to deal with but other than that, I added names to the list in order of who dmailed me with their name and address first. After doing all this I realized that I could have done it a bit more geographically. I'll leave that up to the next person who starts one of these!
TamiXWP it's on it's way to ya'.!! Thank you to all who are participating and to those who gave good advice and asked great questions. God bless, -joanne

Thanks for doing all the hard work, Joanne!! Now all we have to do is sit back and have some fun!!
Karen
oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!
Joanne, you're the best!
Thanks so much for making this possible!
Sharon
Thanks so much. Looking forward to the next step
Betty
Joanne,
I am both excited and nervous. I will set here and wait for the box Thursday and I'll try to get it to the PO right after I raid and restore it. That way it should reach Mel on Saturday. Well if things work out right anyway. I'll let y'all know. Thanks for allowing me to play and Joanne, thanks for your hard work with this.
Tami
Tami, Please do not be nervous. I feel sure whatever you do will be just right. It sounds like Joanne filled that box up. Just think, if it keeps expanding, it might weigh 50# by the time I gets back to Joanne!
Looking forward to hearing about the treasures you uncover inside the box!
Mel
Mel,
I just hope there will be something left for you. LOL
Tami
Woo Hoo, thanks Joanne so much for getting this RR organized. I'm too excited and can't wait to see everyone's treasures. Oh Tami I bet you are excited, it's going to be like a bead store, or stained glass store, ya have to pick up everything and check it out, and the decision will be so hard. Have fun tomorrow..
Tami,
I am both excited and nervous. I know I will be like a kid in a candy shop but I want to get it back in the mail tomorrow so my time drooling will be short. I can drool after over my booty. LOL That didn't sound right. I was thinking pirate.
:-)
Tami
That was funny:~) Don't be nervous, this is for FUN! To me a RR is like buying a raffle ticket.... you buy the ticket and hope to win somthing. With the RR you only have to pay the shipping cost for a chance to trade for something you don't have.
I want to thank everyone involved in this. I hope everyone who plays finds at least one new hoya they can't live without or one they can add to a skimpy pot they want fuller faster. thank you.
-joanne
FYI... I put 'delivery confirmation' on the box when I shipped it. It cost less than a dollar. With it, the USPS can better track it. -joanne
Joanne,
Does that mean we have to sign for the package?
Thanks,
Gabi
Gabi, No. The delivery person scans the package when it's delilvered. After reading some other posts, I think that buying insurance is the way to go. I don't know how it would work on a RR but for anything else I use the USPS for, I'm buy insurance.
I guess the only possitive for using delivery confirmation is that it should be scanned at every stop the package makes. I know whenever I use it the box makes it and when I don't, well we have had problems. But, I have had more issues with UPS and FedX.
-joanne
I just got the box. WOW.
Tami
Yay for you!! I look forward to hearing what you took. HAVE FUN :)
Gabi
Deep breath in ........ release slowly..... Ready dig.... How darn fun!!!! Our mail lady just came as well and I thought I had better run in here and see if you received the box. Woo Hoo, have fun :)
Wow what a rush. I was in a cold sweet as I tried to figure out what to keep. And as I was running in and out of the rain getting plants I got stung by a wasp. LOL Adrenalin running wild. I had to replace the box, it was smashed. Nothing was harmed but it just wasn't gonna work again. I took five and replaced them with seven. Six rooted and one cutting. The box was full like Joanne said. Hoyas I have never heard of. Best not say any more.
I took from the box
cv optimistic
Polystachya Var.
Golamcoina
Bordenii
sp. Apple Queen
Please forgive me I couldn't help myself.
Tami
Mel,
Its on its way to you. Forgot to say in the other post.
Tami
One down! I'm so sorry you got stung! If you put fresh cut onion on the sting it will make the pain go away allmost instantly.
Thank you for changing the box but I'm sorry you had to. Oh, by the way, it's H. sp. 'apple green', or at least that's what I purchased it as. Gotta run pick up kids. -joanne
Joanne,
No problem changing the box. I'm sure it will have to be changed quite often. Its raining here to which doesn't help. Thanks so much for doing this. You really out did yourself with the Hoya's in the box. It was fun for me and hearing what other get is gonna be fun too.
I took Ledum for the Sting and just have the swelling to go down now. I'll have to try the onion next time.
Thanks for corecting me on the spelling. I was still shaking when I sat down to type.
:-)
Tami
Cool Tami! It sounds like you did great! Hey, we are supposed to raid the box, right? I'll gladly do the same and pass the box to Karen. I'll feel like a quarterback in a foot ball game. I am off to sit on the front porch and wait for the postman!
Mel
Mel,
If truth be known, I did not raid the box. I held back major. :-) Very few in the box have I ever even heard of. There are way over 10 in there. closer to 20. I'm excited about what others find for their colections.
I hope you get the box Saturday. At least you will have a few days to get things toigether before sending it Monday. Let us know.
Tami
OH, This sounds like toooo much fun!! I can't wait to see what is in the box. Now, I need to think about what I might be sending out.
Horse woman, it was so fun. You will love it when it gets to your house. Unless you have an extensive list you will find something you want. Joanne loaded the box. Very generous of her. I hope she gets some good ones as well.
I have never done anything like this. I never really understood what a round robin was. LOL
Tami
There would of been no holding back for this girl. It would of been 10 for 10 !!! I have no shame.... Actually, I think the more you take, and replace, the fresher the cuttings will stay. Hmmmm, Sounds like a justifiable excuse for my selfishness.
Waiting patiently in Arizona
