Yeah, I think Victor and Eleanor should get royalties from the other forums for stealing their ideas and esp if they use the same phrase.

It's is as Victor say's....a form of flattery. I almost wanted to jump in and help them with a saying. Some of them were copying or just lame. One finally put something catchy up about from "Sea to sea DG is for me." or something like that. Cali forum needs help bad! LOL Maybe we should be gracious and offer a few words??

I was thinking of that too but felt it I would be intruding. They seemed to be struggling when I looked.

Very good Pirl!! There should be something about gardening in a perfect place - it's no challenge! (Except for the constant drought in some parts). Also should reference their 'reputed' flakiness.

I feel like going to that thread and letting them know how happy I am they are copying us... well, then again it may not be a good idea...

Victor - I'd never ever label CA as the ideal place to garden. Some have way too much heat, a lot of it is desert, not cold enough to grow hosta well, mudslides, earthquakes, rainy seasons, dry seasons: not for me. Some areas never get to see the sunset because of the mountains: definitely not for me.

Ok...confession time.... I d-mailed one person on the Cali. forum with a few lines to help them out. I think it's great they and other forums like our idea and DG is all about helping and sharing with other gardener's, so I helped & shared. You can Tar & Feather me when your ready.

If anything, they're the ones who might possibly get upset by it, not us!

Not at all, she was very grateful and see's it like me.....thats what we are here to do, help and share. She asked permission to share the ones I sent her, i had no problem with it. She kept my name out of it as she didn't want me to get into hot water w/the N.E. forum.
But I have am not one to lie about what i did so i fessed up here first! LOL

Pirl, you are right... so far I have not seen anyone describe their place as perfect... well, Zuzu has the best rose garden in tems of soil etc...and she likes the heat but it would be too much for me... I love where I am... and honestly I need a break... so does my checking account!!!!

after a good shaking their soil gets aerated... so they continue to plant!!!

If you are willing to help go to the link and and post a few of your thoughts. I do think tho, that the earthquake one's might not be so funny to those who have lived thru it and possibly lost something or someone. In that respect I count my blessing's that I live in N.E. and they are far, few and minor!

Thanks bal. As for ideas, I think people tend to think about CA gardening as the subject when it's the CA Forum.

No problem! I like some of yours. Does anyone ever spend time on that Forum? Is there a favorite group of plants? Also - same question I posed for us - what would you picture if someone said CA gardening or nature? I think of Bouganvillea or Cactus!

You came up with some really good ones Pix. Here's one for them: If I'm not in the garden I'm not hanging ten, I'm hangin' at DG forum. You are right about the earthquake ones, they can make fun of it but not outsiders. Its like us wearing Ts that said we survived the blizzard. No way would I want to live out there with the quakes, no warning at least when a hurricane or blizzard is on the way we get a heads up now. Tornados in the middle of the country are the same thing. Not much warning although they are getting better at warning for the possibility of one.

Well, Pixie told me you guys were brainstorming for us, so I thought I'd come by and say thanks. You came up with a great idea. Just a couple of questions - why does everyone think Californians live at the beach and Kassia, how could you? We welcomed you with open arms and this is how you show your love? Just kidding! I'm having a little trouble getting enthusiasm over there, but Tropical is doing better.
