I have two of these, and they have grown considerably in the past two months. At first I was thinking hosta maybe, but the leaves are very stiff, not like the hostas we had growing up.

I don't know where League City is, but if you're not in zone 9 then this probably won't make it through your winter, you may want to dig it up and put it in a pot instead.
We're down on the gulf coast south of Houston. Sorry, I've never looked up what zone I'm in.
If you're on the gulf coast then you should be in zone 9, probably 9b.
