This is also growing in the same bed as the gladiolas, so you can see it in the pic from plant ID #1. This is a close-up. It stands about 4' tall.

Plant I d forum is where I would go..... or find ecrane or bwilliams! They seem to know it all......
This looks like a young saucer magnolia (Magnolia x soulangiana), though several other magnolias have this appearance when they are small plants. I'll go have a look at your other thread and gladiolus pic, and see if I still think so.
I'll second dangitgirl; if you want plants identified, post over on the Plant Identification forum where you'll get plenty of attention (and much sooner, from many more eyes doing just that).
