Thanks all!!!

Ronnie - beautiful colors...like that Saznami!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Ronnie - They are ALL lovely! I especially like this one: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3913060

It looks more like an iris or lily than a MG bloom! Just beautiful!!!!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Becky, every one of those flowers was split like that. Hoping it makes seeds for me before frost! That one unfortunately isn't in a pot to bring in if need be.

scio, oregon, OR(Zone 8a)

Ronnie,
When do you get your first frost?

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Beth, usually around late October.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

lucky you, luvs...

We had a light frost already the other night. Garage roof tops were covered in frost yesterday morning. I covered my tomatoes just in case. The poor morning glories were on their own, but the vines look okay. Didn't have a lot of blooms today, but who can blame them? They're probably sulking about the cold. Short growing season, eh?

Everyone - have been enjoying your lovely blooms for the last couple of days!

Ronnie -
I agree that it looks flecked or flaked...I'm interested...

Looks like "Hattie Bell"

which actually comes out of some of the Ipomoea nil Early Call mixes....

We need a photo for the "Sekiho" entry in the PlantFiles here

Joanne, that's downright unfair! Is it normal to have a freeze at this time of the year??

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

It's really hard to say what 'normal' weather is for Calgary, Rev! LOL!
I think our official frost date is probably early September, but it's not unusual for us to get a light frost in late August, unfortunately. Wasn't a killer though, so didn't hurt anything too much.

Robertsdale, AL(Zone 8b)

Ronnie, nice array of flowers! Your "Dai" is known to have the crepe gene causing the reverse tube. It also has the A-3 flecked gene causing the occasional streak, stripe of colored segment on a white background.

Here are pictures of a Dai I grew this year...: http://davesgarden.com/community/journals/viewentry/125926/

Thanks Ron. I enjoyed the variety of blooms produced by this plant...always something different colorwise and structurally.

Thanks for the info Arlan, It looks just like yours!!

Baton Rouge area, LA(Zone 8b)

These are beautiful pictures of some of the best blooms of the year are right here. I love this place! :)

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Arlan, I just went through my seeds and the Dai seed I believe came from you!! I keep all my seeds separate and usually mark each tag. For some reason yours wasn't marked with your name. Thanks for a great flower!!!

I'm seeing a number of MG vines in my yard that I probably planted a while ago. I don't know why they didn't germinate until now. Most are some standard ones that are solid colors like white and pink. I can't get close enough to see them as they are blooming about 1 ft. above my 6' fence. But my Plum Tie-dye is blooming almost daily now! I liked this bloom as it has the thinner purple stripes. It looks more white!

Ronnie, in the back of my mind I was thinking that could be possible! Glad you liked them. - Arlan

Becky, the no umi is stunning on the white trellis, a great back-drop.
Plum Tie Dye is very pretty.

Thanks everyone! Yes!!! Jackie, the dark blue of the no Umi does really stand out against the white fence! The white makes a nice backdrop for all the vines! But I do like the black/dark backgrounds that some have managed to get which also make the blooms POP out in the photographs! Y'all are some fabulous photographers here on this forum!!! :-) :-)

Emma - What is this one? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3921379
I love the white with pink streaks! Very nice!!!

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi Becky,

That is one lone MUTATION off one of my Plum Frost vines from today. I tagged the pod and will grow it separately next year to see what happens. I love it too. Also the bloom was about 5". Very Striking!

Emma
