Morning Glories 2007 # 21

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

beckygardener - You had asked a couple of questions...

"Blooms seem to be smaller than usual. It is now in partial shade. Would that make the blooms smaller or is it a fertilizer issue?"

Hmmm...shade sometimes allows the blooms to last longer and not 'fry too dry' before opening...some plants grown in too much shade may produce smaller than usual blooms, but the shade factor is relative to overall conditions and to the particular plant response...a phosphorus based bloom booster may help...

" Is it too late to transplant into separate pots? If not, what size containers would y'all recommend I transplant them into?"

It's not too late for Florida...1/2 to a gallon...

"Does anyone know what cultivar is considered to have the largest blooms of all the MGs?"

There is no specific 'one' but there are some that are larger than others like "Azuma" which looks like an extra large "Akatsuki no Beni" that are reported to produce extremely large flowers but often collapse under their own weight...

skimper - I like these blizzard/shibori

Thank you very much Ron for the information. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer each one. :-)

Skimper - If you get more of blooms of that gorgeous red bloom and they produce seeds, I'd sure love to do a trade with you if you are interested. I really love the color and size! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3902536

Here's another "star-shaped" I. sloteri

You all travel way to fast for me. Went out this morning and my window box is just brimming with blooms. I'm afraid this is the best pic of the bunch. Wish I could have gotten better pics of the ones at the top of the window they were very pretty, different than these pictured. The Caladiums are really getting overwellmed in this box.

Oh, Here is the others growing in that box, they are the ones Emma liked. Bad pic to much light to far way.

Nice ones, Holly!

You know, you just brought up something interesting. Does anyone know if Moonflowers bloom around the full moon? I ask because mine are blooming again and it has been about 3 weeks since they last bloomed. They are blooming when the moon is full or almost full.

Your Tie-Dye appears to have the same Plum Color as Becky's bloom, and the MGs I grew a couple of years ago.
This one of mine

Really does look like a twin to yours ===

Here is a cropped photo of yours.
The cropping took away the details, but looks like it to me.

Becky,
I haven't had that experience. When my Ipomoea alba Moon Vines crank up, they bloom every night for me.

More surprises, something new everyday. Went out this morning and I have pink mg too. There are the purples I have been getting and now a definite pink. ind of a Wine colored Pink. Lower right with a more purple blossom to the left.
