Carrie:

We should be following Victor around. He's such a great leader!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Here, Here!! Victor has proven himself to be an unflappable, undaunted, unselfish, under-rated, unusually funny kind of leader-guy! Hooray for Victor!!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

You're right! Take a week off Victor - you've earned it.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Woo hoo! When the cat's away, we mice all play!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks - you're scaring me now!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

That's a first!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

If I can manage to fool all you guys, imagine what I can do with dumb people! And I'm not even eligible for parole for 8 more years.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

too funny!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Victor, let us know when your parole board hearing is - I want to attend! x, C

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wait - which side are you on?!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Unfortunately, that's what my lawyer said.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Smart lawyer!! There are a few........LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Count on one hand??

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

a few more.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Parole.... ROTFL!!!

Carrie, you're right. No one is here. Boo hoo, it was so lively before.

Musing......... recipes. I've been going thru the recipe boxes pitching those that seemed like a good idea but never got tried, and not likely to. I made a list of food I'm fixing for Thanksgiving and making a grocery list of the few things I don't have. My cupboards are pretty well stocked all the time.

My freezer is full! To the top! At least the turkey will be out in a few days. That will make some room!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I had to make room in the freezer for the coming food and canned pasta sauce last night to get rid of the bags of frozen tomatoes. Alas three of the seals failed and I lost 3 quarts of sauce! That is the first time I have had the seal fail as the jars went into the water bath. So all I managed to can this year was 3 quarts and one pint! Guess I will have to make due with "store bought". Sigh.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh - bummer! What a shame.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Alas and alack! Think of all the energy on everyone's part - the sun, the rain, the worms, you - that went into making that sauce. Although, the rest of us are doing ok on store-bought. x, C

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Thanks Carrie - now I feel guilty.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Aww Yankee, that is a bummer. But I like your space making idea :)) I'm eating my stuff. I must have 50 containers of freezer cucumbers. This morn, I made peach cobbler from freezer jam that went wrong. I didn't know there was freeezer sure-gell. I used regular liquid.

Life is full of oops :))

I only got a few jars of salsa canned and these jars of hot pepper mix.

Nice shot!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Thanks. I've eaten two jars of the hot mix already. The all green are anaheims. I still have peppers in the fridge.

Jalapeno poppers anyone?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

No, Emily, don't feel guilty! Feel proud that in this day and age you're growing tomatoes! Let alone canning them, freezing them, saucing them, etc. I'm impressed and jealous.

x, C

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Billy - I'll have a couple of those poppers! They look yummy....and your jars of hot peppers look great too!

Cat - bummer about the sauce! So much work goes into it, and it really is disappointing to lose it!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

I missed everyone on this thread and it died? I thought I'd be so far behind :((

We actually had jalapeno poppers for breakfast yesterday.

It's cold and windy so I took the sunset thru the window. It was a gorgeous apricot! The flag is blowing straight out.

Hi Billy

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Lovely photo, Billy! How ya been? Did you have nice holidays?

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Howdy!!

Holidays were great!

I came into the new year with a positive happy feeling. I think it's going to be a good one!

I didn't even gain too much weight yet. Usually I've gained all I lost over the summer.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

WOW, I forgot about this thread, lol.
How ya doin, Billy.

I got to meet a fellow photographer Tuesday morning. We frequent the same photo site and I mentioned I would be at a local park with my dog taking pics the next morning. It turned out he lives in the next town over so . . . . .
It was cold but not windy, Sarah (my dog) was on her best behavior and the scenery was out of this world with the snow clinging to everything. We had a fantastic hour.

Hi AndY! Good to hear from you & Billy.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Andy, if you haven't been back to the other photo thread, I chose your park picture as my favorite. I loved the way the branches hung in the other one. I usually pick a favorite when I get so far behind, so you were the honoree this time :))

This picture is fantastic! I think if you start a new link it should be the one posted. I love the shadow play on the ground. It reminded me of ice fishing holes.

Well, we just get started and I need to get a shower in while the furnace is warming up the bathroom. We expect below zero temps the next couple of nights.

I look forward to talking to the gang!!!

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Billy, I'm in a quandary as to how those holes in the ice got there. At first I thought about kids tossing stones on soft ice (it's been warmer) but someone else mentioned ice fishing holes.
Stay warm.
Andy P

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Stunning photo, Andy! It's so nice to have you posting again!!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Andy, I'm giggling over how many holes there are. I guess if one had no fish they cut another :))

We had 4* below this morn and are not getting past 4* now.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Great photo, Andy. And, so nice to hear from you once more.

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Sigh, this was last year.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Hi, Candy. You know where to find me, lol.
Billy, will you do the same this year? I've been cutting down on the seed starting the past couple of years. I haven't bought any seeds yet. Hardly even looked at my catalogs.
Andy P

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

We have been receiving a lot of catalogs. This year we are going to try and not buy as much as we bought last year (our Freshman Gardening Year). So we are glancing at the pretty blooms on the shiny pages and then tossing the catalogs.

Next year - it will be a different story, I'm sure.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I keep the catalogs, most of them, as reference.
I saved plenty of seeds last year to use as filler for the perennial gardens.
I can get veggie seeds locally.
