Need help identifying this plant... and more to come.

Everett, WA(Zone 7b)

Sorry, I have inherited probably 50 different plants that I know nothing about, and really want to get to know all of them so I know how to care for them. Thanks! :)

I'm sort of guessing. Are the leaves huge? Like as long as your fore arm?? I think it may be Acanthus mollis aca: Bears Breeches. Have a look at the plant ID page and see what you think. Good luck!

Sorry so late with this, but you are exactly right! It isn't doing that great... not flowering, not sure how old it is... So now I can investigate what it needs to thrive... thanks!!

You will probably get a lot more input if you post these on the Plant ID forum. It is an open forum and the folks over there take plant ID's seriously.

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

the plants like a dampish soil with tons of animal manure or compost added to the soil as they are hungry feeders, mine have not yet flowered yet as they usually come later in the season, but the leaves look healthy enough, I am in UK by the way, your zone is much hotter than here. also if they have been in the same place for many years, they may need split up to rejuvenate the plant, the roots are very fleshy and break easy, but they are as tough as old boots. good luck. Sorry, realized after I posted this that there is a specific forum just for plant identification... duh! :) Thanks for all the great info! I read up on it, sounds like it can get invasive in some areas (although mine is not doing that at all). I think it is fairly young, it has large leaves but not near as big as it sounds like they can get. Again, thanks for the info!!
