Little white caterpillers?

I hope someone can help me. I think these are caterpillers. They are about 1 inch long. I noticed them devouring a weed, now they are on my hostas. The one in this photo is on my shed. Any help would be appreciated.

Fly_girl, I tried to take another photo but I don't think my camera does close up well. The caterpiller is mostly white with a black head and it's underside and legs are light brown. Is this one any better?
