In the interest of seeing if I could even successfully grow a garden I bought a seed mixture for a butterfly garden and "rocked off" a section of my newly seeded lawn for gardening. I live in Ottawa Ontario (Zone 5a I believe) and have identified the following
Common Poppy
Bigflower Coreopsis
Sweet Dreams
Bachelors Buttons
Cosmos sulfureus
Pink Cosmos (Mexican Aster)
There is one I am stumped on. It is similar to Sweet Dreams but is on a taller stalk that splits. The flowers are medium to dark pink with only a few less petals. This flower seems very fragile and the petals fall off with only minimal handling. The leaves are long a slender and have a "powdery green" colloring. I'm afraid I don't have a digital camera so a picture may take a while. Any suggestions?
Identifying Flowers
pick up the book Taylors Guide to Annuals.
It's great for ID
