Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

We have prop two and a half here. Which means they can't raise your taxes more than that percentage of the value of the property. We have had three override votes in the past year with another one just before the holidays scheduled. You have to vote to override to increase property taxes. So far it has been turned down. They will keep putting on the special ballot until people get tired of going to vote. Sooner or later it will pass then you can't go back. It wouldn't be so bad if you actually could point to something more you got for the increases.

Now that is nuts!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - that's the point. My taxes have increased 150% in 10 years. What service improved 150%?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

ngam, who decides the value of your property? We're do for a re-evaluation this year. I'm sure that will be another 100 bucks a month

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

venu, try an extra $320 a month - that's what we just received.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Well the town does according to current sale values. You can appeal if you think it is wrong. Property prices have been going down, will that make it lower?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, but if enough people get theirs lowered, they will have to raise the taxes on everyone to make it up. You can't win.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Whoa, that 320 stopped me in my tracks. That's absurd!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The Superintendent makes $250K per year. A number of other Administrators make more than $150K.

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

OK, the last several posts have been way too coherant and logical and appropriate to the one before it. Let's get back on track here.

Do slugs actually serve a purpose? Where is their place in the natural order?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

So are you thinking about resuming a career in another field? The price is right!

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Just met a neighbor's dog in my driveway. White male pit bull. His name is Diesel. I want him to go home and stay there. Electric fences do not keep other animals OUT.

I hope it's a prequel - can't get enough of those.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's a skipquel.

It doesn't matter if all things are equal.

Heat warnings out for the NE tomorrow. That's a big change from just two and three days ago with high temp's not hitting 60.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Of course it is going to hit 90 degrees plus - with high humidity. I am going to Tanglewood - and I think anything over 72 degrees is pushing the limits of tolerance . . . .

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

You'll be nice and cool under the trees, sitting on the cool grass and chilling out. Enjoy!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

thanks! We will try. David is buying blackberry wine...yum.

It was lost?

You do know that god spelled backwards is . .

I'm just amazed at the coincidence of finding religion while admitting his guilt in torturing God's creatures.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Everybody finds God after they're found guilty. It follows the formula set out by the PR people. Paris said the same thing. I think she lost him since.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

No one really buys this load of apology do they?

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

I would - if I could use it for compost and if they delivered it for free!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I don't believe a word of the apology. It was all for show.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Great response AYankeeCat! very clever :-)
