Im looking for something to plant behind my small pentas that are about 18 inches. Any suggestions? I live in Florida and the pentas are doing quite well.
What to plant behind low pentas???
What color are your pentas? I am big on colorizing my gardens. Do you want something that blooms at the same time or do you want it staggered? How big is the area? Lots of the flower companies have have garden plans on their websites you can follow. Whatever you choose make sure it has all the soil and sun requirements as the penta.Since pentas grow to about 18", choose something that grows 24" or more.
Hope this helps.
Thank you, my pentas are dark pinks, I saw a yellow flower with long leaves similar to daylilly but I did not know what it was or if it would do well. I have about 3 feet available behind the pentas. I also considered white crape jasmine, but then thought something spikey would look better? ??
I'm having fabulous luck with Salvia nemerosa 'May Night' - it has spikes of electirc purple blooms spring through fall - http://images.google.com/images?q=salvia+may+night&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
Or you could set it off the deep pink with yellow chrysanthemums, coreopsis or zinnias ... do you want annuals or perennials?
You could also mix other pentas - they come (I believe) in a deep red and purple, too. No idea on the height, they're only annuals here.
