Put a beautifully leafed Hydranga in about a week ago. It's planted in only a.m. sun. I've used no chemicals. I found out there is a fungus called scorch. Does anybody know if this is what it looks like? Any treatments for it? Thanks
Does anyone recognize the "scorch" disease?
Lots of things can cause leaves to look like that, anything from sunburn to transplant shock to not enough water, etc. Given that you just planted it, I think it's much more likely related to the stress of planting than anything else.
Agree hole hearted with Ecrane, Scorch aint a desease it is a plant symtom suffering from the wrong growing conditions, as she said, it has only just been planted, prob needs a good drink as the soil will be dry and hot, also did you add any nice compost/manure to the soil at planting time as this helps to mantain a wee bit extra moisture to the new planting soil, because it is a very young plant, the heat of the sun will be causeing the foliage to frazzle in the sun/dry air conditions. maybe you could put a little shelter belt around it and dont let it dry out at the soil too much. good luck.
