Sherrill, that glass would be perfect!

Mamajack, I still have horse and cow manure available, an any iron is appreciated.

My soil is extremely iron defficient!

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

lol. broncbuster i thought you were making something that i was going to want one of. now i am not an expert but if you are using this to increase iron in your soil i am not sure this will work. have you read or been told that it would? i think there is a gardening forum re: soil amendment you might want to throw this out at if you haven't already. no need to fill your soil with screws if it doesn't work. lol.

thanks for all of the poop from whoever brings it.

does anyone have any old colored or textured tiles? broken pieces or not? or broken china?

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Mamajack, my dad was a horseshoer and he would save up the ends of the nails that he cut off. Then he'd put the nails in the garden and flower beds. The only thing yellow in his gardens were the blooms. Iron is iron, I may be wrong but a person would have a hard time convincing me. Besides, ain't nobody supposed to be walking around in my beds, anyways. :~) Please bring me your iron.

Edited to add:
I went ahead and posted a thread in the Soil and Compost forum. I've been using Ironite for immediate improvement, but I'm pretty sure that as the scrap peices breakdown the iron is added for long term effects.

Bluemaven, the chicken poop sounds good. Do you want anything from my list?

Fort Worth, TX

Bananna, I have rabbit poop, not chicken poop, would you want some of that? I'm gonna have rabbit poop by the trash bags full. I would LOVE to have any of your coneflowers, purple society garlic and/or turks cap.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Warning: OT for just a minute

Hey, bronc, did you know that HG doesn't recommend Ironite? I used to use it too, until he said that it's full of arsenic. You might want to read what he has to say.

I started using Texas greensand instead. Great product. My acid-lovers do fine now in our very alkaline soils. I also throw some in the compost and spread it on the lawn once a year.

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

I knew that PB, but thought that was the only way that I could immediately add iron to my soil. Does greensand have iron? Does it have immediate effects?

I have a live oak in my front yard that I use to gauge the iron in my soil. When we bought the place 2 yrs ago it was yellow. I put Ironite around it with tree spikes and it greened up for about a month then went back to yellow. So, I started throwing scrap peices of iron in the bed around it (and all my other beds) and add Ironite when it starts turning yellow. It's been green now for 3 months. I'll gladly use greensand if it works as good. I'll get this Organic thing down soon, I promise!

what should I do with the Iris while I am waiting to give them to y'all? I haven't planted any of them yet. Should I go ahead and plant them in the yard with the ones I'm keeping, put them in a pot with potting soil or what?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

It would be best if you planted them, since we still have 8 weeks to the swap. I am afraid if you don't they will dry out, or rot. You could plant them in pots if that is more convenient.
Josephine.

Fort Worth, TX

Thanks Josephine, I just pruned the tops and there are 51 I think I'll keep 10 or so. I had to get them from that old house because surely it will be destroyed and then the iris would be gone too. :( I think I'll put them in pots, a lot of pots LOL

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Bronc, I don't have any here right now to check the label, but according to HG the natural product is 19% iron, and out-performs all other iron additives. I dunno if he tested old screws (LOL). It also has other trace minerals and is a great soil amendment.

I have several acid-lovers (azaleas, sweetgum, gardenias). Whenever I see a little yellowing, I just toss a couple of handfuls of greensand around them. They green up in a day or two. I usually have to do that a couple of times a year.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Blues, you can put 5 or six in a pot, it will be crowded, but you are just trying to keep them alive with the least trouble, right?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Alright I hate to do this but here goes. ..

I work for the Dallas ISD and I am now officially able to let everyone know we are starting a school garden. It is in full sun, but if anyone brings anything extra to the swap and they want to donate it to the school the kids will thank you. This is an K-2 garden and it will be in full sun 90% of the time.

That said - lets get back to the swap.

Fort Worth, TX

Mitch, want some Iris for your school garden???

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

We would love anything - really anything.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

BluesMaven,Rabbit poop is fine.No problem for turks cap and society garlic. The cone flower may be seeds, I am trying to grow some now, but if it doesn't work...

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

Bananna, you got any of that garlic left? If so, can I get some, please?

Rowlett, TX(Zone 8a)

Pbtxlady, I'm so sorry but the Obedient Plant is no longer with me.

Siggy, right now I can only find one Bur Oak seedling (which I've promised to Mitch). But I do have lots of BO acorns. I can try to root one for you or give you the acorns. They're last year's crop that the squirrels haven't gotten to yet.

Carla

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady, you were wanting Obedient plant? I've got plenty.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Paige, I could use some Obedient plant too, Please.
Josephine.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Me too.

McKinney, TX(Zone 7b)

My sister (thought she was being helpful) root-pruned all of my perennials in one of my beds. (I'm lucky she didn't dig up my crinums too). So, I'll be looking at replacements. I still need to see if I have any shareable plants in the back. Will post as soon as I know I can come (possible kids marching competition).

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe I should actually make myself a spot for my trades.

Obedient plant: Pbtxlady, Ted, and Josephine!
Bog Sage: Pbtx
Indigo Spires (if roots): Pbtx

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Paige.

Carla, would you still like coneflowers? I have tons.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Are those plants or seeds, if plants may i have some?
Josephine.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Bronchbuster, sorry, I don't know where the garlic is. I will be sure to see it in the spring, though that doesn't help you much.
Siggy, I will look for a burr oak seedling.
Pbtxlady, Double Love and Pandora's Box are both EV, Going Bananas is SEV. Can I have Jacobs Cline too?

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

pbtxlady - if the cone flowers are plants me too please? If seeds.. me too please!

McKinney, TX(Zone 7b)

I'd love some coneflowers, plants or seeds, please.

San Antonio, TX

Im going to reserve and get my list together in case I am able to make it.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady, the lemon bacopa sounds great for one waterlogged area I have.
Fellow traders, check my list for accuracy.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

bananna, could I please have some purple oxalis in addition to the miscanthus that you already have me down for?

Waxahachie, TX(Zone 8a)

I've updated my list. LMK if I missed anyone.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

BANANNA.......................can i have 1 or 2 of the native coneflowers? is this the kind that has drooping petals? and i also would like the zephirine drouhin rose if you still have it.
i have big eared lamb's ear, that is if the monsoon didn't drown it. i can bring cuttings of the white turk's cap. i also have paprika or coronation gold (i think....at least it's yellow) yarrow if those interest you.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, a couple of us have coneflowers, and I'm not sure who was talking to me in some of these posts. So LMK if I missed anyone, or if you weren't talking to me.

I think that someone else, I don't remember who, was offering a hybrid. Mine are the old-fashioned native kind, Echinacea purpurea. Single pink drooping petals.

Updating list above. Adding:

Josephine, SandiTX, and Mitch for coneflower plantlings. (I can also bring seeds if someone would rather have those.)

Bananna for lemon bacopa and Jacob Kline bee balm.

Bananna, can you do Going Bananas and Double Love for me? I'll bet those would be gorgeous together.

Mitch, can your school use these two live oak saplings that I dug up? I'll have red oaks for you too.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, yeah, who was it who has rain lilies? Please put me down if you have enough.

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you for the Coneflowers Txlady, May I have your real name Please?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure! It's Pattie. Sorry, I thought I had signed it before.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sugarfoot, may I have your pink rock rose, please? What do I have that you can use?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie, I am sorry too, I am sure you have done it, but I tend to forget names, thank you for refreshing my memory.
