Houston, TX

The vines on my mini cucumbers have stopped growing and the remaining cucumbers have stoppoed gaining in size. They are all about the size of your little finger. We in the houston area have had a ton of rain all smmer long.

If your temps are like ours, it's probably just gotten too darn hot for them. If they are out in full sun, try rigging up something to give them some shade during the hottest part of the day. My cukes always take a siesta during the heat of summer.

Thanks for the reply. I think you right. We really hadn't had any real heat because of all the rain. Now that it has stopped, the temps are 97 every day. Can I grow cukes in the fall?If so when should I plant from seeds?
Thanks again

I used to grow fall cukes when my kids were young. Our temps are up in the triple digits right now too and they don't seem to know when it will end :-( I would wait and direct sow the cuke seeds sometime in the first week of September. You might have to fix a little shade for the plants while they are young to help keep them from burning up until the temps cool down a little. I'm sure y'all are like us--we will have good growing weather at least through sometime in Nov.
