Morning Glories 2007 # 15

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joseph, forget to say I love the Mt Fuji pink. I'm growing out all the rest of my
Mt Fuji's next yr. I might have that lovely pink and the red to violet bloom
Ronnie grew.

Those gray morning glories are really stunning; who would have thought a gray flower could be so pretty? Very very nice Emma.

Thank you . . .
They are ever more gorgeous in person.

I'll have plenty of seeds and will be happy to share some with you.

Thanks for the nice compliments everyone!

Emma - I think you gave me a couple seeds for the solid chocolate. (I hope.) Those blooms do look like a nice size! I do love the big ole' blooms. (I swear the Moonflower knocks my socks off every single time I see it bloom. The bloom is as big as my out-stretched hand!) Unbelievable!

Your Grays are fabulous! That Gray Fog is quite the kicker!
I especially like your mystery vine:

What a pretty blue color and pattern!

Keep em coming! :-)

Emma, thanks for the name on the red Fuji; Fuji no beni
Love your Hamaginga, very pretty. Those 2 shades of blue combine to
make this flower just stunning. Love all the gray's.

Hey Becky,

Thanks so much.
I can't remember if I sent you my SOLID Chocolate or not. This year is the first time I have grown the larger blooming SOLID Chocolate - so you know where you can get seeds later *-*
I still have a couple of OTHER Gray MG's that I didn't even grow out this year *sigh*.
Guess next year.

I'd like to do some cross-pollinating with some of these.
Aaaah to have a Gray Speckled one.. . .

Thanks Jackie,
I really like the Blue one too. I need to get Ron to tell me what he thinks it is.

luvsgreatdanes - There seems to be a considerable variation in the darkness of the blooms you have posted of the purple-ish youjiro
The dark one here
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3818216
looks to be Mai Sugata

and the more dilute one shown here
http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=3819436
looks like the dilute Mai Sugatas that Emma posted

They both seem to be on the purple side as opposed to the blue of the chiaki so I'd suggest placing them in Mai Sugata...
Are these bloom color variations occuring on the same exact plant(?)
Or do you several different vines producing different shades of color(?)

Gerris2 - The less cultivated plants may contain more 'wild' nutrients and hence be more nutritious to the beetles than the more highly bred types...

beckygardener - The Moonvines belong to the Morning Glory Family even though they are Evening flowering...perhaps Evening Glories may be a good appellation...The closest plant to the Ipomoea alba is Ipomoea turbinata and they are not known to cross fertilize...The vast majority of different species will not cross fertilize naturally or by hand...

Emma - Place the Gray Shibori on my list...very kewl(!)...
The Blue Tie Dye and the Hama Ginga from Sakata are one and the same although these blizzards are known to produce alot of variations...it's the nature of the blizzards to do that...

Really NIce Flowers Everyone(!)...

TTY,...

Ron, Here is the best shot I got of the sepals. I'll post more if you need me too. They have the curve. I found that very interesting about the sepals, I have 4 different MG and I was walking around yesterday comparing the different ones.

Todays flowers, Oh BTW I remembered where I got these from, last year. It was a stray flower in a pot of something that came home from a nursery.

Ron,
You got it on the Gray Shibori . . .
and thanks for the other great information.

HollyAnnS . . .
I would like to be on your want list for your Pink Form. A really neat bloom
