I have a bush that is covered with while scale looking things. The leaves are dropping and the plant looks sick. What can I spray on it to kill this invasion? Or should I just cut the plant back to get rid of the scale? It may spread to other plants. TIA for all replies.
white scale
Do you know what the bush is? I would first use a horticulteral oil in a spray. Check with your local nursery, home depot etc. If the plant is not a favorite, pull it out and chuck it.
Scale can be tricky to get rid of, if you can cut back the parts that it's on and there'd still be a decent amount of plant left, then I'd do that. Also, if you could post a picture, both a closeup of the white stuff and a shot of enough of the plant that we can see why it look sick that would help. I've had scale on plants before, and even with pretty good size infestations I haven't noticed leaves dropping off and the plant looking sick, so I wonder if there isn't something else going on too.
