I wanted to start a new post where us beginning composters could ask maybe some more experienced folks questions. And of course I'll kick things off and go first... I am planning to transplant a dwarf spruce in the fall and was reading that "Superthrive" is extremely useful in this process and I began to wonder how does compost tea compare as a root booster to this well known product? Any info is welcome. And of course please feel free to post other questions
Composting Questions
Compost tea isn't really a root booster, it has some nutrients and helps build up beneficial microorganisms in the soil, but it doesn't have any of the vitamins or anything that a root booster like Superthrive does. So I would view them as complementary and both could be beneficial. If you're only going to use one at a time, I would use Superthrive on recent transplants, and then compost tea on a more regular basis in the garden in general.
