WHEN DO I PICK SPAGHETTI SQUASH? I had one of those green-striped ones, and my husband was dancing around because he thought I was growing a bunch of watermelon (really did look like the stripe on a watermelon) ...but now it has turned mostly yellow with less evidence of a stripe...The rest of the spag squash are lighter buff yellow and solid-colored. I don't want to pick at wrong time. HELP?

A sphaghetti squash is a winter squash. The danger is picking it before it is ripe. The rind has to hard before it is ready. They are pretty tough, so in your area you can leave them untill just before frost or the vines die, whichever comes first. If you are hungry, you can start harvesting when the skin is hard and the stem is dry.

I'am in zone4-5 and my spagetti squash are starting to really grow. I picked one about the size of the one lafko06 showed yesterday. I gave it to my mom and she baked it and said it was sooooooo good. I also picked 4 more today. 3 were light yellow and one was green but the same size. I don't know why it was green when it was from the same vine.

I'm guessing mine are about 10" long. DM

Thank you for your input. I guess the ones sitting on my kitchen table were picked too early....but I will give them a try and wait for the others to mature.
