Or that poor Alocasia(?).... I think all of your plants have the same cultural problems. We need to talk about the soil (any amendments?), watering, drainage, fertilizing.....

CeeJay. ya see what natlaw has right there in the corner of the building. That looks like an accident waitign to happen for th eplants, but not quite sure what Natlaw could do without changing the whole drainage thing.

star - Since it isn't open, and is actually enclosed very nicely, as long as it is kept free of debris from the gutter, it is probably the best solution. I have them in several of my gardening areas, and as long as I keep them free of leaves, they work great.

ceejay... I wondered though if maybe it empting too much water in that corner and keeping the groudn too wet , since Natlaw is having so many problems with plants.

Do those type of fixtures, spread the water out or does it stay in one spot?
Haven't seen this black type before. We always used the same type as the gutter pipe was and had it run out over a little piece of cement on top the groudn to keep the plants from getting to wet of feet.

This kind goes directly into a drainage pipe underground which carries it to a dumping spot. So no water from the gutter actually goes onto the ground at this point. Unless it gets jammed up.....

If this is not what you have, please tell us, Natlaw....

Sorry I have not responded til now. The gutter is actually buried and the water comes bout about 3 feet away from the bedding area. I am wondering if it is a fertilization issue?

I have alot of hollyhocks and they always look like that this time of year. Don't fertilize them-they don't bloom as well with fertilized soil. Just cut back and they will come back and bloom again.
