Peace Lily

Long Island, VA

Mine is dying and I don't know what to do. Maybe it's because it is dry in our home. Any suggestions?

Also, I am not very good with flowers/trees/shrubbery, etc. What is the best potting soil to use if I transplant a flower?

Can you post a picture or tell us a little more about the symptoms that make you think it's dying?

Hi eworsham, your peace Lily dont like the dryness of the house, so repot it into indoor plant compost from the flower shop or garden center, it needs a damp soil, spray the foliage every other day to give it the humidity it also needs and when the top of the soil feels a bit dry, give it more water, if unsure, stick your finger into the pot soil, if damp it is ok, if dry, it needs watered, you could also give it a half strength liquid plant feed every week in the growing season as these plants really are quite hungry, also dont have it in bright sunlight as this will soften/weaken and discolour the foliage, cool shaded sunlight is all it needs. Good Luck. WeeNel.

If dryness in your house is a problem, get a saucer that is deep enough to hold water, place stones in it so the bottom of the pot won't actually be sitting in the water, and place your plant in it. This will provide a little humidity for your plant.

I keep two peace lilies in the house and i do find that I need to water often...............they don't need a lot of light but they do like moisture more than most plants...............naturelover has a good idea.................
