Milorganite and bunnies.

I heard this would deter deer from eating plants, anyone have success with it keeping Rabbits away from prize lilies? I have used Liquid Fence with good results, but tends to get $$.
Any other advice would be appreciated..

Marcia, I buy the concentrated Liquid Fence and dilute it more than they suggests - still works! I'm not familiar with Milorganite and will be interested in what people have to say.

I've used Milorganite to keep the deer away and it seemed to work but needed to be applied often. It might work for rabbits....it is smelly!

Marcia, I'd use Plantskydd. It's an expensive $22, but it works. You spray it *once* over your plants and I have determined it to be good for about 3 1/2 months, NO reapplication, that's where you actually save money. It works on everything I have tried, from magnolias to lilies. I live out with a herd of at least 13 deer and many bunnies. I saw tulips bloom that have never seen the light of spring before being chomped. It's been a great year, thanks to Plantskydd.
Jungs Garden Center on Nesbitt Rd. has it. I'm a believer and it's worth every penny. Remember, one application lasts a long time. Rain? Doesn't matter. Wonderful. And trust me, I have tried it all.

Wow - am I ever going to try to find that one???!!!

Murmur, looks like they have some retailers in your area. I'd call the places first, just to be sure.

I just googled it and found it at a super nursery right by my granddaughter's apartment - I'll be there Saturday!!

Thanks for the info - sounds like a safe product, too.

Magnolia, thanks - we cross-posted and probably cross-googled!!!

I must admit, when I heard about this last year, I went out, made a special trip out to a nursery miles from here, and they didn't have it. Admittedly, not pleased. So if it's at all out of your way, I'd call first.
I don't endorse many things, but this seems to be just what the doctor ordered.

it's not out of the way at all - in fact, it's almost next door to my granddaughter's place. I'm stopping by there Saturday to bring her some things so it's perfect! If they happen to not carry it after all, gosh - I might have to buy a plant or something - lol!

Just a reminder that this stuff wreaks! It makes all the other stuff smell like roses. The smell wears off in a couple days to you, but not the deer and bunnies.
Be sure to post your opinion on how it works, or doesn't work. Whatever the case may be.

Sherman, CT

I used Plantskydd and it worked like a charm for about a month. Then the deer showed up and I sprayed again, and the second time it was less effective. I'm going to keep using it and some Milorganite too, which will give me the smelliest garden on the east coast. I didn't know about Plantskydd's smell, which is so ferociously bad that I thought the neighbors would complain after I sprayed. (They didn't.)

Haven't heard of anybody having that kind of luck. I just used as directed.
It really stinks, but after a day or two, the smell is gone here. I warn the neighbors ;)

Liquid Fence smells pretty bad, but it goes away within hours - maybe I'll rethink the Plantskydd thing!!! DH spends a lot of time on the deck - oh, that's it - I'll wait until I'm mad at him. Oh, that's right. I'm mad at him right now. I'll buy it for sure.
