I have a plant that came up from a "butterfly mix" seed packet that I really like, but I'm not sure what it is. There were ALOT of varieties listed on the packet!
It has golden yellow flowers and is about a foot tall. It looks very much like a cosmos - same type of flowers, and it has a bunch of stems coming up from one central plant. The foliage is sort of fern-like, too. BUT it has a brown center - I haven't found any cosmos with brown centers. After the flower dies, it makes a sort of round ball of a seedhead. The flowers are a little more than an inch across. It seems pretty drought-tolerant. Anyone know what this is? Thanks!
help to identify flowers please!
My guess would be some sort of Coreopsis, but it would help to see a picture.

I'll try to post a picture soon, but I don't have a digital camera, so I have to get it developed, scan in, etc. It doesn't look like the moonbeam coreopsis I've grown in the past - the foliage is not as fine, and it's more upright. Could be another variety, though, I guess.
There are a lot of different types of coreopsis with flowers and leaves that look different, take a look through the link I posted and see if yours looks like any of those.
Thanks! Hmmm.... it looks alot like some of them. I'll have to take the pictures home and compare (I'm at work). If none are a match, I'll try to post a picture.
Thanks, ecrane3, for suggesting coreopsis. I think it must be a coreopsis auriculata.
I planted a perennial and now I see that another plant is growing right beside it. And I don't know what it is? The leaves are about 4 inches in width. It's growing fast.
If this is a holly hock I suppose I should move it someplace where I have more room for it. Right?
