Hey gang, I sent a message to Terry to find out about starting a new Passi forum and she told me to make a shout out here. Who here would be interested in a forum just for Passifloras?

New Forum for Passifloras
almost half of what hits the vine forum is Passiflora so yes, lets do it.
Mark
Terry is a she. :~) And a passie forum would be great!
Great idea, that would leave the vines and climbers for clemmies, roses, grapes, etc. I mean the annual morning glory has it's own forum... only fair for the passies to have their own! I'm in!
Oops, terry, sorry ;)
Aunt b I only thought about it becasue I also am interested in the plumeria and it also has its own forum and for as much info as I need about these passis, it is spread all over this forum form Butterfly gardening to vines to identification. it is quite confusing...well not confusing but spread out
Flutter
I know what you mean Flutter, sometimes you like to have a microscope but sometimes you want the satellite view. It'll be like the best of both!
Sounds good to me!
Mark
Yes, please. I'm a newbie and it would be easier to find info if the passies are in their own forum.
Kaperc, have any of us met you yet? Were you at the round up in Temecula?
Mark
I barely met you at Don's, Mark. I have one of your blue horizon passies. After a wonderful start, it's look very poorly since I repotted it, poor thing. I've been misting it and keeping out of the hot sun.
I also have a Constance Elliot from SoCal which is taking over the front of the house (but no blooms). :-)
What happened to all the passie lovers?
I would like just such a forum!
Flutter, did you post over on Vines & Climbers? It might get more exposure over there..
I think I did. Let me go find it and bump the post
I agree. A separate passie forum is definitely needed.
Karen
Mybe it would help me. Mine all die I try to grow.
I'm for it. Have two kinds and not doing very well with either.
I know there are more passie lovers out there!!
I support this idea.
Me too!!! Might be able to learn how to get the blasted things to grow, musta started 25 seeds and couldn't get a one to germinate....
I'm interested!
Oh, goody! We're getting more interest! I just wanted to say that I live in zone 5b and I have them in pots on my deck, climbing the lattice. I bring them into the basement to "rest" for winter with minimal maintenance and they just go like gang-busters again, the following spring... here's a pic...
But how do ya get em to germinateeee?? Whine...lol
Aunt B, do you trim them back for the winter?
Where is a link on how to harvest the seeds. My pods fell off and are still green
Yes, I do. I trim them back or close to the trellis I have in the pot. They do drop leaves in the basement, and most have no leaves at all in early spring... Probably about March or whenever the plants I winterize sense it's time to start growing, I water more than in winter. I did lose my Lady Margaret last winter, but probably because I didn't water enough... it's a fine line on the water... just enough to keep it alive, and not enough to rot the roots while it's having it's long winter nap. I think people probably would tend to over water, but I tend to keep them on the drier side, cause I'm lazy and I have to carry water to the plant section of the basement. lol
Gotcha! thanks, Joelle
If we HAD a Passie Forum, the seed thing could be a sticky! Hmmmm? Tell your friends to come and post...... ;) -Bonnie
Yeah ya'll keep letting DG know you want a forum. I have recently had germinating luck and hopefully it will get better once the heat mat comes (It is suppossed to be here Thursday) So far I have germinated vestpertilio, Biflora, quadrangularis, and Maliformis and they have cute little buds now. The rest are being stubborn.
The others I am trying but not doing anything yet are:
P. Boenderi
Passiflora edulis flavicarpa
Passiflora edulis 'McCain'
P. Macrocarpa
PASSIFLORA mollissima
P. Pallens
Mysharona, is that whole plant the Passi? ITS HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi TARogers, let those fruits ripen inside for another month or so before removing the seeds--the fruits will get shriveled and brown. Anyone have any luck germinating loefgreni and kermisina? I've been waiting 10 weeks now!
Mark
You got my vote!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to have a forum for Passifloras!
I would love a Passi forum - 1st year with them...I'm hooked!!
