I just moved into a rental home and I have no clue what this plant is and if I want to tear it out.
Can anyone identify this plant?
Hi Roonarpia, cant be too sure from the pic, but it looks like a Clemetis which is a climber, it will be better if grown on a trellis or some sort of wigwam support as they do best that way, they also grow into other large shrubs if you are just renting and dont want the expence, however it will be worth the few dollars to give it the conditions it needs, they dont like root disturbance, so be carefull as you dig or weed, if the garden has not been cared for, you will do it good to give all the plants a good water, add some plant food around the roots and fork it in or dig it in, but dont dig too close to the stems as you will damage the stems/roots, the fastest way to feed is by useing a liquid feed as you water acording to the makers directions, dont add more or you will burn the roots, slowly go around the plands and just gently break up the soil, if you are in a hot summer zone, then a crust will have formed or the top soil and the water wont have penitrated because of this, poke your finger into the soil after you water and if it is still dry, give more water, but for now, a liqide feed once a week should help no end, then next year, if you are still there renting, you can add granual food to the soil as this will be enough to see the plants through till the winter, you can add more then if you wish, or wait till the following spring, if your soil is really dry, add some manure/compost mixed into the soil, this will help air into the earth and retain some moisture for the plant roots to get as a reserve till you get the hose out again, good luck. WeeNel.
