UGH! What is this thing?

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Even though it is long since gone, I still have chills
running up my spine and arms over this thing. It
is huge! The rest of the critter is hiding behind the
shovel. I even ran over it with the riding mower and
it kept on walking. It was indeed a creepy thing, long!

My apologies for the bad images, it was hard to
photograph holding a shovel in one hand and a shaky
camera in the other.

A little closer. As if you want to get that close, LOL.

UGH, I saw a movie with one of those in it once. It was one of those cheap B horror flicks.
Maybe by chopping it, it will turn into more.
(cue Twilight Zone music here)
I think it can eat whole jeeps and houses and stuff.
Be afraid, be very afraid. (oh, that was another movie)
Sorry, the ex used to bring home alot of movies for me and the kids to watch, he later ran off with the owner of the video store. (no great loss)
But I did see too many movies.

Hi Parts!

Actually, the body DID keep moving after I chopped it. It was like
a horror flick indeed. With an overactive imagination like mine, the
body parts were walking around regenerating, coming to get me!

LOL

Ran off with the video store owner? That reminds me of a bit
of gossip from town. True, but still gossip.

Big time corporate guy has affair with video store cashier. I
just HAD to see this woman, so I popped in to get a membership.
I could have died when I saw her. Suffice it to say opposites attract.

Claypa,

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to not only
identify it, but provide the links as well. You're great!

While my picture is a bit lacking, I will be happy to upload it.

Thanks again!

No prob, you're welcome - thankfully there aren't too many critters like that running around, so it was pretty easy to find

The picture even gives me the creeps.
The video thing was a long time ago. He did me a favor, as I was just stuck there in a bad relationship.
It made me go back to school, get a job, and do for myself. When I didn't even care, I found the man of my dreams, got married a couple a months later and we just celebrated our 11th year together.
He is the greatest man and my best friend. We just like being together.
The ex married the video lady and divorced soon after. Too bad.

OMGosh! I thought I had all the monster bugs here but that one isn't! Someone answered my prayers on that one cause there's not enough Valium to get me past seeing one of those! I'm still trying to cope with existing in the same state as grass spiders.

Man...I've seen scorpions, snakes, tarantulas and all..but I think I'd run if I saw that thing!

And yeah...I think I saw that movie too!! Reminds me of the giant bugs eating folks in the latest King Kong movie!!

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Yeah, that movie best discribes the bug. Sheeesh, no wonder I can hardly look at the picture.
Glad I am not the one to find it.
I don't like spiders either.

Hulbert, OK(Zone 7a)

Speaking of spiders, I have to share a story.

When I was a child, my parents left my older brother in
charge while they went out for a while. I sat on their bed,
innocently drawing on a makeshift desk made from a wooden
orange crate.

I'll never forget the feeling, it was such a strong feeling that
I can cry just thinking about it, the way it affected me at the time.

My father came into the room and knocked the box to the
floor, yelling. All of my drawing tools, my picture, everything
scattered while he yelled.

Little did I know all the hub-ub was over a black widow crawling
on the box, which he saw when they entered the room. All I knew
at the time was that I thought I was being good, sure enough, I
was in trouble again, and this time my pretty picture was ruined.

:-(

Creepy story. We have some wood spiders here that are not afraid of people at all. They just look at you with those great big zillion eyes. They are all hairy and nasty. I could probably sell them as pets.
Hey, that is what you should have done with this bug. Big bids on ebay!
