Dawn - those are Veronica - Sunny Border Blue. The plants are three years old. They naturally have "ugly knees" (the bottom part of the plant is unattractive) so you want to plant something shorter in front.
What's Blooming?? # 6
oh my how everyone has such beautiful flowers!!!!! I'm dying to go take pictures and I can't! I am so amazed at how much I miss my camera - she's gonna get hugs and kisses when I'm runited with her tonight! I am defnitely going to add more echinacea next year. I need to put some helenium in too.
Ok Al it is.....those flowers are just beautiful. Can seeds be shipped to Canada? Pirl kindly told me that it is illegal for plants to be shipped.....
Seandor I thought it was veronica but I wasn't sure...I have the red fox one and I know what you mean about the ugly knees (love that term BTW lol) same goes for mine.
Nice pics everyone. My son-in-law's cornea transplant went well. His eye is very sore but already an improvement in his vision. Thanks for the prayers. He will be out of work for a month at least. I now take care of both him and Colin. Eleanor
Excellent news on your SIL operation. dont' work too hard, Eleanor.
Michaela
Great to hear Eleanor. Taking care of two guys? Wow, you have your hands full. You'll need the prayers now!
That is wonderful news for your family Eleanor. Wishing him a swift recovery.
Rose - thanks for the explanation. RR was our subway in Queens when I was growing up!
Victor That would be a sign I would collect. With the last name Rhode, I would go to auctions and buy road signs for my three sons. We have been tempted (never done it) to "collect" signs on the road naming Nicholas Rd. one of my boys and Rose Rd. I think RR in Queens would be great for the only woman in our house. LOL
Rose
Eleanor, so glad to hear that your SIL's surgery went well. Now you are nurse/babysitter/grandma/gardener...lots of hats to wear :0)
Seandor, your yard looks like a fairtale...so pretty! you've done so much. thx for the pics.
Hi, Rose. nice to see you here! I, too, need more coneflowers..so hard to choose. It's nice to see your favorites.
Al, (Paul Simon wannabe?) nice to see your favorite coneflowers, too. It's very generous of you to test all the new varieties and narrow it down to the best for us LOL
ngam, your b'fly pic is beautiful. I haven't seen as many as I would like (no pics). Victor mentioned that Bela Lugosi and Desperado would look good together. I was struck by the same thought. In fact, I made a note to myself. Are yours side by side?
pixie, wonderful things/pics as usual
onewish, is your heavenly lily 'Shocking'? Mine are blooming for the first time and I'm in love with them.
sweet peas...'Perfumed Delight' (with some coleus and carrots LOL)
Great flower box grampapa!
After the last couple of days of rain showers echinacea Harvest Moon looks more like a flower than toothpicks around a center. The color is really more orange on the petals but couldn't quite capture it yet. This is new this year, I hope it hangs around a while.
Grampapa the two DLs are at opposite ends of the yard but they would go well together. Desperado came in a deal several years before Bela arrived. I love your flower box, when you open the window it must be lovely.

So you did! My apologies - I am humbled by your excellence . . . and I appreciate knowing I can call her Yvonne :-)
No problem - she's a nice one.
Jan, interesting planter with the sweet peas. I tried wsing some and not one took. I think I planted too early.
Al, does your Unique Hydrangea have a name other than unique? Very handsome.
Eleanor, so glad to hear of your SIL's surgery recovery. You'll be busy for sure!!!
Seandor, your gardens look magnificent. Will you be up late tonite to get your final copy??? :)

Well, I ordered my copy of H.P. last week, so it probably won't arrive for a few days. Supposedly, I am taking it camping - but I am not sure I can hold out until Aug. 3. So, if it arrives a week from now, that's okay with me.
DD refuses to read the last book - she doesn't want the magic of Harry Potter to end (btw, she's almost 20 years old)
Venu - It is what it is - so profound.

it is new for me this year so is pretty small yet.
Wow, Celeste! I love that poppy. We tried poppies last year but they didn't take for some reason. So we didn't try them this year. I know we have them on the list for another attempt for next season.
You sent me some seeds for that poppy, Celeste. Is it an annual or perennial?
(in the end only one survived - but I am learning! I didn't deadhead it and I am hoping to have some seeds to try again).
I'm not sure Michaela...they were given to me. I'm hoping it's a perennial but if not I will be saving the seeds too. Did yours bloom that color? Because I had white ones with a purple eye and then these complete purples and then some red and white ones. Can't remember which ones I sent you!
That Veronica is beautiful!! My SIL really likes that plant, and so far we haven't planted any for him to enjoy. Bad us! Bad us! Now that my memory has been 'jogged', it will go on the list for next year.
Thanks for sharing that lovely photo.
You sent me the white with the dark cross.
Is it possible to save seeds from the red veronica? I will be saving seeds from my blue one.
I hope it has seeds that can be saved......I didn't even look last year!
great shots pixie & lorettamar..... my poppies aren't as nice as i thought they would be... get one or two blooms and it's done.... love the veronica!
